Default Two in a row. Complete BS.

Goodness. I'm playing good, very agressive (unusually for me). I got the chip lead, about £20.

I get dealt Ace - 10 and raise the blind (25/50) to £1. I get two calls. Flop comes down, Ace - 10 - 2. I check then re-raise this guy who pushes £2 all in. The other guy folds but the guy who pushed calls and shows KK. A king comes on the river and I lose half my stack.

Very next hand, I'm a little pissed off and losing soime judgement but flop comes 7 - 7 - K. I have KQ and raise the same guy who beat me last time by £3. He calls and re-raises all in. I call. He shows A 10. I'm laughing again but then an Ace hits on the river.

This shit just doesn't happen. How the fuck can I go from the biggest stack to bust in two hands?

Do you guys think it is unwise to raise with A-10 in early/middle position?

I only play tournaments, but I would probably lay that down PF.
Obviously, things like table image and the types of players on your table
affect starting hand requirements, but it is dangerous to lead with a hand
like A-10 with a few players still to act behind you.

After the flop, your check might be perceived as a signal that you dont
have an Ace. The guy with KK was probably always going to shove, but
because you checked that gave him a chance to lead the betting.

I would probably lead out with a bet.

Does anyone else agree with me, or am I just an idiot? Tourneys are obviously
quite different from ring games......

I am no poker guru. I guess it's more likely that you're right than me.

It's not tournament and personally A - 10 is one of my favourite hands. I would almost always call with it unless I was running low. Also, when you are chip leader it is often more easy to play in that manner.

Also, I would not be surprised if your way of playing the hand was better but I personally would probably do the same again. I am stabbing at him having a straight draw, KJ maybe, which he may well fold if I lead out. If he thinks his high card is good he can make a small bet hoping either for a fold or that he will be flat called and hit something afterwards.

When I flop top and middle pair I have to assume that I got the best hand, assuming that, I am looking for a way to get as much money out of the hand as possible whilst not giving him free cards. In my opinion what makes the play dangerous is that he might check and hit something on the turn, once he's made the raise I'm happy.
