If I played higher I would need more money to do so; that is the aim, to play higher, but not at the expense of everything else in my life. This is my "learning to manage a bank roll" time. When I do that successfully I will hopefully move up to the higher tables.
When I play now I two table .01/.02 tables and am mastering that (after some initial setbacks I am now moving forward). Once I am happy there I will do 4 tables and try to continue playing well etc.
After that then I will go to the .02/.04 tables, then the .05/.10 tables and so on and so forth........all within my bank roll of course.
I really want to use what I have now online and stablise and push forward with that. If I do deposit then it will be because I have either
a)tilted yet again
b)card selection is poor
c)overbet with TPTK yet again or
d)I have cashed out the millions from grinding and moving up and am ready to have another dip.
I must say that after playing near 2000 hands since my micro frustrations that I am actually getting used to how others play at these levels. Two things I really think I am beginning to learn.
1)Play the opponents and not just my cards (has taken me a while - slow learner I guess)
2)The same players use the same tactics hand in hand out. Get your timing right and you can clean them out. I notice that any suited will be raised and called to the river, any offsuit that are within three of each other will at least call to see the flop even if someone raises PF. Oh and K2o is the new monster hand
So in summation:
- I have limited funds and want to stay within my self imposed limits even if that means I am consigned to the micros for years on end.
- I will hit uber bad patches where nothing seems to work
- Conversely I will hit great cards where no one wants to pay me off
- Watch a table before joining to see how the opponents play. I do the same thing when I go for a surf - I will spend 20 or so minutes preparing and watching the swell, looking for rips, getting the feel before I go in.
- Pick a position on the table where you feel comfortable - very dependent on the type of players at the table.
- and last but not least - If I have K2o then ALL IN
