Default Ultimate Bad Beat

I deposited money into JetSetPoker on October 11th so that I could play some headhunter tournaments that night. I played well, caught numerous heads and won four out of five tournaments. I placed second in the other.

I went to login a few minutes ago and, to my dismay, this message was all that's left of JetSetPoker.

Dear Valued JetSetPoker Customer:

We deeply regret to convey that we shall be discontinuing service at JetSetPoker (the "Site") effective Midnight EST on Friday, October 13, 2006.

Initially, and as per our previous statement, we were cautiously optimistic in maintaining operations for our membership after the passage of the "SAFE Port Act HR 4954" on September 30, 2006 by the U.S. Senate. We nonetheless initially believed it to be practicable.

However, given the developments during the preceding week, including but not limited to, the unfavorable view of payment processors and financial institutions regarding online gambling and the extensive advice of our legal counsel, we have been instructed to cease activities and comply with this prohibitionist legislation.

We were fortunate to have a first-rate membership and it was our pleasure to provide a destination site where members were able to enjoy their favorite card games and tournaments with the surety that we were to buttress the integrity of the forum. In this inclement environment however we believe our ability to do so may become impaired nor do we anticipate this matter to improve in the near future.

We once again thank you for your patronage of JetSetPoker and deeply regret these unfortunate circumstances that have materially and adversely impacted both the Site and the industry.

Best regards,
JetSetPoker Management Team

... now if you'll excuse me, I'm to the LIQUOR STORE to pick up a bottle of JIM BEAM.

President Bush Signs SAFE Port Act
Published: Friday, October 13, 2006
Author:

With little fan fare, and absolutely no mention of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), President George W. Bush signed the SAFE Port Act into law at 10:00 EST on Friday, October 13.

In an eight minute ceremony in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Bush made it illegal for financial institutions to process transactions to and from online gambling companies. The law does not criminalize individual citizens if they play poker online, nor does it make online gambling illegal in states where it already was not. What it attempts to do, although many think it will be unenforceable, is cut off funds flowing out of the U.S. and into the online gambling sites.

Because the UIGEA is now officially law, several online poker rooms have made themselves off limits to Americans. Below is a brief summary of the major casualties.

• Party Poker
• Paradise Poker (will still allow U.S. customers to play until November 13)
• iPoker Network (Titan Poker, Noble Poker, CD Poker)
• Pacific Poker
• Cryptologic rooms (Sun Poker, InterPoker)
• PokerRoom.com

Out of the other rooms and networks that has closed to U.S. customers, perhaps the strangest development was with JetSet Poker, which announced at 11:55pm Thursday night that it would be ceasing operations completely at midnight. Fortunately, all players will be sent checks covering their funds on deposit.

Many poker rooms have said, however, that it’s business as usual, and Neteller announced that it will not be shutting down to the U.S., so there will still be many opportunities to play poker online.

Default Two Coins On The Eyes To Pay The Ferryman

They accepted new deposits until 11:55pm on the 13th of October and then if that wasn't seedy enough they posted a message about how they would vanish from the internet in 5 minutes. I lost about $175 but I knew people there who played in $10, 000 buy-in headhunter MTT. Man, their bankroll got raped that night.

... and what is this shit about a cheque arriving in the mail? No, there will be no cheque. If they were concerned about customer relations they would have stayed open long enough to let every player cash out on his or her own.

I will, if a cheque arrives in my mailbox, post a formal appology here.

... say goodbye to this thread because I'm sure it will sink to the very bottom of the boneyard.

That is the scam of the century, I wish I had thought of it.
