I normally don't like playing big pots, but when I have a set with an Ace on board 3-ways to the flop or AK with an Ace on the flop here, I'd play it like you. I want shit Aces to be in a push or fold mode and they're usually gonna push and you win.
As for preflop, you're trying to find ways to knock out a hand that you want to call preflop. If this guy was gonna call 3bbs, he was gonna call 5. Generally in these online donivales, if people limp with an Ace, they'll never lay it down to a preflop raise unless it's more half their chips and in a lot of those cases, they'll shove all their chips in.
You played it fine and got unlucky. He could only beat a bluff. He's a donk. Later in a tourney, I'll underbet the pot on the flop and push hard on the turn when he's commited and I'm a bigger favorite to win., but you're still early enough to gamble on the fact that your TPTK is good when that TP is the Ace. I might've just pushed all of my chips in on the flop to make it look like a bluff, but this early I'm not gonna get away from this unless I bet 1000 with the intention of folding, but that's weak and leaves me with 20bbs. I want to build my stacks and I don't mind playing a big pot early with this hand to this bard.
