Default Jacks Again?!!!

If you haven't read this thread: Two hands including one of the sickest laydowns I've ever made., it's the back story for this hand.

Anyway, I've been struggling all week with good hands in blind wars. Weird brain farting and shit like that. I was playing 5/10NL No Max. buy. I bought in for $2k and Cliff was on my left and was the SB in this hand.

I had in the BB.

Everyone folded to the unknown button who limps in. Cliff completes. I check.

Flop: 4 5 9 rbw

Cliff checks. I bet $30. Button folds. Cliff calls.

Turn: 5

Cliff checks. I bet $75. Cliff calls. I laughed after his call and "What the hell are you calling with?" And he just smiled at me.

River: 5

Cliff checks AGAIN!!! I droped my head down into my hands and had an uncontrollable smile. He said, "You wanna bet again, dont you?" with a smile.

I squealed back, "Yes."

"But you know you're beat."

I squealed back, "Yes."

"So what are you gonna do, Alex?"

I squealed again, "Check."

And the motherfucker has Jacks in the hole AGAIN!!! It'd been a week, so myself and a couple of others just laughed. I couldn't believe it.

nh, Cliff.

Default pressure pressure

It happens, but the thing is at that level im shocked he was just calling his jacks through< I think thats a deceptive but dangerous play..I think if you fired a heavy rocket on the turn you could of stole the pot..But who knows what his price-out woulda been...anyways better luck next time man..

Limping with JJ in the SB sounds like a good play to me. Jacks dont have a lot of value especially if you raise and the flop comes KQx or has even one overcard on it. Its the same with QQ ironically, but slightly different.

For me when he calls the turn bet he almost instantly has 99+ or a lower set like 44, or 55, even 45 wouldnt be out of the question. He played a strong hand deceptively and got some fair cash out of you... Good old Cliff.

I'd hate the OOP raise with Jacks. He played it well. I'd've CR'd the turn, but I think he was being charitable. I had just sat down, too. Maybe he just wanted to see my cards to see what kind of a mood I'm in.

Cliff's a pretty disciplined player. He avoids shootouts. I see him shake his head sometimes when people get retarded in the blinds. Only reason why the pot wasn't chopped was because of the limp.

Default really??

so what you guys are saying is you actually think checking jj on that flop was the right move????..that seems a bit passive to me at that level of play..I play 5/10 nl quite frequently and ive hit up a few 10/20nl local games and I think checking jj on that flop and turn is WEAK, but thats just my opinion..I personally like to be the agressor and feel out where my hand is at all times..Why be a calling station when you can take initiative..In my opinion the only time a hand is worth checking is if it is WAYYY ahead and cant be caught....
