Default Variance sucks ass.

So I got a few hundy in the Netteller account, and I decide it's time to use the ATM card. So I go get $180 out, and head across town to the only game. The usual smallest limit is 3/6 Kill. Well today they were only offering 5/10 kill. Ah fuck it.

But as I watched the game, I Heard the dealer say "Ok, We have 7 to the Flop" about ten times more than I heard "Raise" from all the players combined. So I sit. Seriously, the .10/.20 on stars is a tougher game. This did not surprise me, since this is common for Live play. But my issue is I'm comfortably BR'd for 1/2 right now, and could Squeeze 2/4 if I wanted too. 3/6 would be fine in my book for the normal tables I play and a single game. 5/10 was a little high. But just watching the game, I knew by far I was the best player there.

Well, I ran card dead (How dead? Top 3 aces over 150 hands: AKo, A8s, A7s.. Highest pair: 88) First 20 hands I see Q6o 8 times. I counted. First hand I play is 30 hands in, and that K8s from the SB (7 limpers? I ain't folding) and took a $150 pot with a TsJxQs,x,Xs board. OK I'm up. Then the shit started.

This oriental kid sits down, I figure hes either really good or really bad, Well he was an ATM. Out of his first 8 hands, He sees 7 Rivers and no showdowns. Nice. Then I get in the SB. Kid UTG Limps (normal), along with 5 others. I limp, BB checks (THATS 8 TO THE FLOP) Flop is rainbow. I check, BB bets and EVERYBODY calls. So do I, BB will definately lead out on the turn cause nothing on the turn should scare him. Turn is a brick (9 perhaps). I check, BB bets out, EVERYBODY Calls. I raise. EVERYBODY CALLS. River is a . I bet out (table is so passive that it would get checked around), BB calls, UTG calls (CALLS!), 1 other caller. BB has . UTG HAS .

Then a run of TPGK's from LP and the Blinds keeps getting rivered by flushes (Damn kid takes 2 with T5s and 39s, both from UTG).

Just running card dead, and getting schooled by the fishies wore down my stack till I was forced to raise from EP all-in with QTs (I wasn't rebuying, funds not available). ANd of course the wrong color and an ace flops.

Now what got me was this lady sitting ot my right. Very nice, pleasant lady, but a total fish. She would call with any type of draw/hand, and would open bet with the same. Of course, I never had a hand to beat her with. But she tells me she's a regular on Party and Paradises 10/20 game. I believe her totally. I think I'm moving up in limits.

This, and a bad run at my normal game has me down over $250 in 4 days. Problem is that's almost half my bank.

Oh well. back to the grind.

K feel better now.

Nice to know I'm not the only one flopping monster hands and then getting sucked out in mass quanities over the past couple of days.

Good GOD do I know what that feels like. I frigging hate when you sit down an extremely fishy table only to be given total crap to play with. I sat at a 3/6 table one time and waited for like two hours for a decent hand. When I finally got a good one and flopped a flush, I reraised the guy after his postflop raise and everyone folded to me. So I took down like a 20 dollar pot. Whoopdy Doo! Anyway I finally walked out with my remaining $20 to save some dignity. NOT GETTING ANY CARDS SUCKS BUTT!!!!

I think what killed me was the way they were playing the Kill. Not only did consecutive solo pots make it a 10/20 game, but any SINGLE pot over $150 killed it. Thats 15 bets. at this table That's not to hard with a Flop and turn 2 bet. There was a lot of Kill hands, And I barely had a stack for 5/10.

Seriously, overall what do you think of the killpot concept? Personally, when I am trying to play for real I hate it. When I am at my low limit home games it is fun for some action...

While I have never played it, I think I would much prefer a Half kill, but that is tough to do on the 5/10 tables. But it is a good action builder, but I really did not like the "big pot kill" we had today. Thats just a useless tax.

What I really enjoy though is playing with a "Rock". This is a free mandatory straddle token that can be won. First hand of the night, the rock gets tossed into the pot. It has No value now, but the winner of the pot gets to keep it until he is the UTG spot next. When he is UTG, he posts the Rock as a free Blind straddle (meaning it is a blind raise to 2 sb's) The action to UTG+1 is then 2 small bets. Action occurs normally, but like a normal straddle, UTG has already acted. Of course, since it is blind and free to UTG, A lot of people will raise the straddle to steal it. Winner of that pot gets the Rock and has to post it UTG. This is a mandatory (Also +EV for UTG since it costs him nothing) straddle, and cannot be used in any position but UTG.
