Default Boils my feckin blood

Pretty ordinary to have a whinge in your first post, but I'm ropeable at the moment.

Quick intro I guess.

Been spying on you lot hoping to improve my game for a couple weeks now, so I appreciate all the posts you guys put up. It's definitely helped me identify a "Decent" hand as opposed to the crap I used to call with.

As far as Poker goes, I'm average at best, still working out pot odds and the like, but if anything I err on the side of caution moresoe than anything else.

I only play for Play money online, and partake in the odd live SNG game at the casino, aside from that, I just want to be a lot better before I start putting my money on the line at any great length.

Anyhows, here begineth the whinge.

I've seen a few of what I call bad beats, the greatest had to be in a play money SNG. I was playing tight as a ducks rectum seeing as I'd couldn't hit a pair in the playboy mansion.

I'm dealt AK on the button and pretty much short stacked, only 15 odd BB left in me. I raise 4BB, and get called. I start shitting bricks because I can't seem to flop a thing. As luck would have it though the flop hits:

A K 7 rainbow

My heart a flutter I raise, hoping that old mate caught something. He re-raises me all-in, of course my pants start to smell a bit as I figure numb nuts hit a set of sevens, but seeing as this wart has been raising all-in with porridge for hands, I call and he flips over the cards.

I near wet myself as he flops over 10 8 off suit.

I scratch my head and type something along the lines of "?????"

He replies that he thought I was bluffing.

I ask why he'd call a "Bluff" drawing to nearly nothing, and no reply comes.

His answer of course comes when the turn and river hit 6 and 9, making his straight.

I thow my mouse and eat some choco mousse.

Anyways, back to my gripe of recent times.

Play money SNG, Pokerstars, and early on in the tourny, so everyone has pretty much the 1500 you start with and the requisite 10/20 Blinds.

Dealt AJ off suit in latish position, I call as someone already raises the beast to 100 to go.

Flop comes J A 10 rainbow and I rub my little hands together.

Hoping for some action I get my wish when someone raises the bugger all in and another wanker calls. (You'll see the wankerisms in a moment.)

Again I fear a set from mister early possie, but push in with two pair and chance at tripling up.

Early position shows QQ

Wanker shows 88.

I show AJ

Turn comes: 7

River comes 9

There it is, straight for wanker and another two - pair in the toilet. Now him hitting the straight doesn't make him a wanker mind. He earnt that with the post hand banter.

Of course the requisite "NH" get's bandied about by all and sundry, which is something which truly gives me the terry tits when idiots hit miracle draws, but I can live with that.

His reply though, that floored me.

"Thanks, had to go for it."

Mouse thrown, mousse eaten, Rant over, thanks for listening.

Don't forget, it's play money. While you may be taking it seriously and trying to play your best game, most of your opponents will not be. If you're just trying to learn pot odds and things like that then there is certainly some benefits to playing with play money but for me, I didn't really start learning anything until I put some real money on the line. *shrugs*

I've always had that in the back of my mind, I'll heed your advice and start investing some dollars and see how I go.

Thanks.

I was thinking the same... Interesting...

i'm with MJ on this one... you wont learn a lot playing P$... how the use the software and odds maybe but not much...

Make a small deposit on Star, lets say 50$ and play the penny tables. it will b alot more valuable as a learning experiance...
