    Question 99 vs small board

I just moved up from nl2, so I will be posting hands more often...

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (9 handed) - Full Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB ($5)
    BB ($4.44)
    UTG ($2.76)
    UTG+1 ($1.87)
    Hero (MP1) ($4.78)
    MP2 ($2.35)
    MP3 ($4.07)
    CO ($12.33)
    Button ($6.55)

    Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 9, 9
    2 folds, Hero bets $0.13, 1 fold, MP3 calls $0.13, 4 folds

    Flop: ($0.33) 3, 5, 5 (2 players)
    Hero bets $0.20, MP3 calls $0.20

    Turn: ($0.73) 6 (2 players)
    Hero bets $0.40, MP3 raises to $0.80, Hero ??

Should I have checked the turn instead of betting out? Since I bet out and was raised does that make it an easy fold?

Raising 13c is such an awkward size.

    Reads/Stats please...

I would have shoved, but then again I'm a horrible cash game player.

13c = 2.5BB's thats my standard MP raise
no reads, little stats (really not useful)
    14 hands:
    Vp- 50
    pfr- 0
    Afq- 50

Were you worried that he might have a five or a higher pair than your nines?

Those were both in the range of hands that I put him on. I was unsure if I should have c/f (check folded) the turn and saved 16BB's.

    Range of hands that I put him on: A5, A6, AQ+, 66-JJ (99 unlikely)

I called his raise on turn, Ace on river and we both checked. He flipped over JJ.

TBH I kinda thought he had AQ or AK and was trying to force a fold on turn... I had no reads on him and should have played more cautiously.

Hopefully you didn't end up losing very much on that. Pocket pairs are sometimes difficult to play, just because they're so appealing.

    :/

I think that I should have c/f the turn and saved 16BB's. Nothing outrageous... just a lesson learned for me.

I'm fine with betting turn, he's shown kind of loose passive tendencies so far. Good chance he's peeling the flop and you pick up the pot on the turn.
I probably call minraise and see what he does on the river.

What does peeling the flop mean?
