Was it correct to c-bet the flop, or should I have checked it or shoved?

    Prof.
to be honest most of the time when i play in cash games...
if UTG is raising to almost 5x...
Im flat calling with AK AQ, QQ and possibly KK......
Im only 3betting with AA or KK...

You need to remember he is representing a big hand here UTG raising,
by not 4betting you pre flop you can eliminate AA maybe KK..(IMHO)
flat calling the flop means he could of had 10's or an over pair, still leaving JJ QQ...
the cbet was nessacery simply because you did 3bet pre flop, so you would stay in control and push him off...

but yeah IMHO, im flat calling pre flop, no matter how strong AK is pre flop, to a UTG raise of almost 5x, im worried about my chances....

I like a flat here as well. Without reads, UTG's continuing range is likely to crush us. This is especially bad since UTG is halfstacked, and that reduces some of the playability AKs has for nutflush potential. If you're deeper and you know he has a wider UTG raising range you can probably 3bet

As for cbetting, when you 3bet, his 4bet range is going to be AA,KK,QQ(?) and his flatting range is going to be QQ(?) and JJ. So when you cbet on a Txx board he is never folding anything in his range and so this is -ev.
On the other hand when you check behind you can often gain a lot of equity from any A,K,spade making checking to be the right play.
