I"m first to raise pre flop withraising to 1.50, all fold to me until BB who has,
who re-raises a further quid to 2.50 - not much of a raise so I call the extra quid.

I'm thinking good so far - maybe only fear flush, but hoping he as Q's or J's
I fire an 8 quid raise and not surprisingly he put me all in, pot is now 32 quid.
Turn- I"m expecting a River Diamond, but at this point am an 81% favourite but.......
RiverFUCK!
Ok, what's the verdit, do I just suck, or unlucky!

Why are you raising UTG preflop with that?

This is a fold preflop utg. If you don't understand position, then read some books on poker.
This is a fold preflop to the 3bet.
This is a stack off on the flop if you have £16 and playing 25p/50p stakes (and probably stack off on flop anything up to £60/£70)

So if you guys flop two pair you'd fold? I know what you're saying, and if you wanted to fold pre flop that's fine, but that wasn't my question. I didn't ask for if I should have folded pre flop. I think the pocket Aces were lucky to win the hand after the turn, the same way some Knobend calling my raise when I held
with
beat me with a flop of
when my hand failed to improve. I'm sure the odds were well with me pre flop and I had position, but I believe poker is a game that should be played after the flop when make a decision to enter the hand. I don't think I could have played my two pair any better then I did and I suspect the pocket Ace guy shit his pants up until the River.

Maybe I should have just rephrase the original question as I'm not going to get an actual reply to my question. I knew I'd run into some critism, but I also expected to get something beyond fold preflop. A bit like telling Hitler 'Don't invade Poland' - great advice after the fact!

Your flop play was perfect. He sucked out. That bites.
However, I don't think you understand what we're telling you. Unless you're on the button, NEVER EVER EVER play that hand preflop. FOLD IT EVERY TIME. There were proponents for Hitler invading Poland. NO ONE HERE agrees with your pre-flop play. This isn't hindsight - it's letting you know that your pre-flop play is EXTREMELY unprofitable for you in the long run.

My thinking is, never put yourself in the position to ask this question on the forums. So in answer to your question, no you did not play this as well as you could have. You should have played it better by folding pre flop. Plain and simple.

Thanks for that. And I do understand what people are saying. I was just annoyed that my inital question took so long to be addressed. I also should add I wasn't UTG when I raised, just mid position. What pissed me off was that the week before I had Aces and some Gug had K 9 and hit a full house on the River. It was his small re-raise of a quid that kept me in the hand otherwise I'd have folded, so I guess he played the hand worse then I did, initially to let me see the flop and be way ahead, but the Ipoker Gods reached out and pushed their knuckles into my Colon on the River!
