i am dieseldennis in this hand. I had the 8 high straight and all he had was the 7 high straight.... why did i lose this hand? ive been racking my brain for hours now trying to find a reason.

I see that it didnt recognize my straight and all the software gave me was an A high...... but that doesnt seem right to me. Obviously there is a rule that i am unaware of.... what is it?

Fold preflop. In O/8 you want to play hands that have scoop potential, meaning a decent shot at winning both the high and low halves of the pot. Your hand has a couple high cards, but your suit is T-high. And on the low side, you just have an A8, which is very unlikely to ever make a winning low. AKT8 might be worth a button openraise, but it's basically trash.
