    Default Rate bluff

Full ring, Full game, Live game. 1/2.

Okay so I usually don't do this, I don't know what possessed me to do it, so I don't like it already. But even after the fact I don't know how this guy insta call, like not even a second he just shipped them in. I had been playing fairly nitty because it was my first time at this game. I bought in for 140 avg buy in seemed to be around 100 or so. I had shown down some decent hands but recently just lost a decent pot and I was sitting around 106. Guy who I tried to bluff on recently sat down, doubled up, then lost it all the next hand. He then just limped or folded about every other hand for the next 20something hands. Hes sitting with about 160 or so. (max buy in 300 min 40 ) He shoved a J T 4 R flop with 7s and got snapped by JJ.

So I'm UTG with AJo and I bet 6, a few folds, he makes it 25, folds back around to me... And I sitting here thinking he might have a AK or smaller pocket pair. And for some reason I felt attached to my hand (maybe cause I hadn't played in an orbit or 2.) I shove the rest of my stack trying to rep a QQ+ hand....The guy snaps and calls with pocket 77s, I don't improve...

Well, I don't know, tell me what you think about it. I know there are better spots but...idk. Maybe this will help my image or distort it next time I play and I'll get looked up by worse hands.

On another note the first hand I saw at this table with 3 all-ins (around 60 each) with a 2 card flush draw on turn and 4 to a straight. The hands were AA, TT, 55 for trips. There seems to be a lot of money to be made at this game..

Yeah, it's way too risky to bluff UTG in full ring. Pick a better spot to make a move.

....More? I play it sometimes, it's not always a fold. My image was tight and it didn't really matter what my cards were.

Though I agree with the fold, I wouldn't say that table image doesn't matter. There will surely be donks in a live $1/$2 game, but at least half of the table is going to be aware of basic image. He'll be just as aware of it when he 3bets you as he is facing your 4 bet, though, so fold to the $25. You can't bluff well here.

If I were playing 1/2 NL live, I'm never 4-bet bluffing unless I've seen villain fold after he's 3-bet.

I don't rate many sorts of preflop bluffing in loose live 1/2 games. Shoving>calling if you think he's putting a move on but open folding AJo UTG is way better again. I'm not sure why he's so happy to put in 53bb's preflop with 77 but ppl who 3bet tight UTG raisers generally like their hands, whether they should or shouldn't is another question. Either way don't let boredom or inactivity cause you to overrate your hand. Patience pays in live 1/2 donkfests.

I don't think it's an awful shove if he's splashing around enough to ship weaker aces and under pairs.

But I probably would open fold if it's FR.

This move wasn't a bluff it was a gamble, there is no sensible reason to do this at all.

Go back and look at your thought process.

As a peice of advice, for every move preflop, rather than having a set selection of hands, (though I agree AJo is a fold here) have a reason and a plan for the hand. What are you trying to achive with it? Do you want to get it in against worse when he 3bets? Are you opening because you'll get callers OOP in the blinds with dominated aces? Are you opening because people IP are loose passive and will call off with any pair if you hit top pair and go for it? Is the table tight enough for you to take the blinds with an inferiour hand?

There is a framework for you to work with. Good luck.
