Default A4o in SB vs tag

imma start posting some more hands here becuase it seems no one else is.

villain is tag, 18/17 over 60ish hands, so not sizable but enough to know hes not limping very much. only had been 3bet twice up to this and he called once and folded the other time.

When people tags call on the buttno like this they usually have things like KQs KQo AQo AJs 88+ 88 less so than JJ he 4bets QQ and AKs+ 95% of the time most likely.

    Grabbed by Holdem Manager
    NL Holdem $0.50(BB) Replayer
    SB ($9.30)
    Hero ($72.70)
    UTG ($129)
    CO ($50)
    BTN ($56.60)

    Dealt to Hero A:heart: 4:spade:

fold, fold, BTN raises to $1.50, fold, Hero raises to $5.50, BTN calls $4

    FLOP ($11.25)

Hero bets $6, BTN calls $6

    TURN ($23.25)

Hero checks, BTN bets $14, Hero calls $14

    RIVER ($51.25)

Hero bets $12, BTN raises to $31.10 (AI), Hero calls $19.10

On the flop I bet out because I am probably betting all my air here and I don't think hes folding his one pair hands here ever, including JJ 99 88. He probably raises his AQ AJ and AT hands here although i don't think he shows up with AT much because he seems to taggy to be calling with it in a 3bet pot.

I am not sure about the turn check, I think the only reason I like it is becuase my river bets get paid off a ton more than my turn bets because he only has to call one at that point.

I remember misreading my hand during the hand as just a Ax hand not two pair on the turn which is why I didnt crai but now looking back c/shoving turn isn't really good from a value stand point, i do get called from worst but I think i also get called on the river from hands that might not call turn shove.

I bet small on river so 88 99 can still call if they think im in a bluff spot and gives AQ+ room to shove a little bit.
iif u raise my raise one more ****ing time i will come over there and slit ur throat

i'll try and be nice but i can't promise much

pre is pretty bad, sure you've got blockers for other Ax but you're going to get some burnt vs AJ/AQ for stacks and you're not suited so you can't get in on flops or barrel/jam turns like you can with Axs

flop fine, turn b/c all day every day no questions asked.

if you actually did misread your hand not c/shoving at that point when you realise is a big mistake, any made hand or darw that has bet the turn won't fold apart from his air which will fold to a river barrel anyway.

i hope you genuinely misread your hand and not checked for some other reason.

Bet sizing is a bit small,
    I like the flop lead,
turn check kinda sucks, just bet.
Bet river propperly please. You made a block bet then called which is just not good.

You have two pair +NFD in a 3bet pot, go with it on the turn.

Good to see some cash strat here...

Wouldn't expect anything more from you big boy

Against tags I think blockers are great. Plus you don't get stacked by AJ AQ all too often because you dont have to go ape shit crazy. Know your hand is a bluff. I will show a hand demonstrating this probably the hand after this.

flop fine, turn b/c all day every day no questions asked.

JJ 99 probably won't call but I also don't have position, so I can't try and squeeze a bet out on river. Bet/calling here would be best, but without the two pair hand I generally c/f turn.

this time the check was an accident

meh river could be a shove but i wasn't really block betting just trying to induce but stacks weren't really deep enough for what I was doing. lol 30 into 40 probably wouldve been fine but it all depends on reads. I just thought he might turn his made hands into bluffs.

And I don't feel bad about getting it in on river ever so calling his shove wasnt bad

turn should be a very easy bet. he nearly always has a pair, and he'll have a heart to go with it about half the time. pair+fd is not a hand that people like to fold, so you can gets lots of value.

once you get to the river like this, i think i would just c/f instead of b/c. there's very little in his range that you still beat, aside from floats that decided to bet two streets. assuming QQ and KK are even in his pf range, i wouldn't expect them to play it like this, AT and AJ obv play like this and will stack you, JJ and TT possibly also the same, though it'd be a somewhat weird turnbet with JJ. the only nonbluff hand that i really see you beating by the river is AQ.

hnmm, ya didn't think about TT JJ getting there does make it super thin

didn't think bout the fact that he will have fd + pair alot, good point.

I'm not crazy about the way the river was played.

Why block bet him? Are you trying to induce a flat call from a worse hand?

You have to know that when you bet $12 there you're opening the door for him to shove in on you with a large range that has you beat here. If he made the flush on the turn he's certainly shipping. When he ships, now you're stuck facing a smallish all in that you probably feel like you have to call considering pot size.

Fact of the matter is, he's probably not shipping with any hand that you have beat. If he's holding Ax he's likely flat calling, which is what you're hoping for. When he stacks off I think you need to dump, even for the cheap price.

That being said, I think check-call is the best strategy on the river, especially considering his chip stack. If he has made the flush and you check to him, he'll likely value bet it, not wanting you to run away if he stacks off. If he has a set or a better 2 pair he might check behind you and fail to tax you on the river for fear of a flush or bigger set.

    My 2 cents

on second thoughts, it's a bigger mistake than i thought. the fact you have the Ah on the flop should be one of your considerations, so i'd probably size my cb a lil larger so i can b/c all the heart turns.
