Live $1-$3 game. At a table that is fairly loose-aggressive pre-flop, but not too nuts post flop. A few solid players at the table, but really only 2 players who have to be respected. Neither one of those players are involved in this hand.
You pick up AA in the CO and there are 4 limpers. You raise to $17. The BB and 3 of the limpers all call.
Pot : $85
Flop 10h 6c 3s
All 4 players check to you and you bet $35. BB folds, the 1st limper and 3rd limper call.
Pot : $190
Turn : 9h
Both callers hesitate for only a moment before checking to you. You bet $75. It's over to the 1st limper now and he sits stone faced for quite sometime. He then counts out what looks to be a min-raise and sees how much he has left behind him. He takes all his chips, stacks them up, and moves all in for $190. The 2nd limper folds.
You have $115 to call, and a total of $160 behind you. You've invested $127 into this pot. The total pot size is now $455 and you have $115 to call.
What is the play here?

Stack off all day long, you are getting such odds here.
Fwiw, "how much have I invested" is poor logic in my opinion. doesn't matter if its 380$ of free money or your 380$.

Aren't you facing a $115 call for a $455 pot since your $75 turn bet is in the middle now? I think at 4:1 you're priced in here as you almost have the odds to suck out on 2 pair plus there's the chance that he's playing JT-AT or even JJ-KK like this. Sorry he had T9 or a set but I think you take this pot down often enough for a call to be correct.

As I'm weighing my action on the turn, I know that IF he does have a set, then it doesn't matter what kind of pot odds I'm getting, it would be a horrible horrible call.
I'm really hoping this player doesn't have a set, but instead has 2 pair. It seems highly unlikely that he check-called the flop, and check-raised all in on the turn with only top pair or a pair in the hole. It also seems very unlikely to me that he would limp-call with JJ-KK. If there is one thing I am certain of at this point, it's that he doesn't have JJ-KK. The most likely hands for him to push with here are 1010, 66, 33, or 9 10. I'm not sure I can even rule out 99, as he could have check called with a pair in the hole and hit a set on the turn, although this also seems unlikely to me.
So really if I'm beat here, there is only 1 hand that I have a realistic chance of drawing out against, and that is 9 10. If that is the hand he is holding, I'm a 4-1 underdog and getting the right odds to gamble here. BUT my gut is screaming at me "FOLD YOU MORON"!! I feel more certain that he has a set than 2 pair.
Should you frustrate call the all in and hope that he has the 1 hand you can draw out on, or dump the hand and go with your gut that he has a set?
From the limited info here, what hand do you put villian on?

I put him on a set. I feel it's the only hand that could sensibly take this line with against what you're repping unless he figures your underbetting=weakness. But when you only need to win 20% of the time I think the limited info gives me enough uncertainty to weight things towards a call. I like gut feelings though and if you're the guy at the table and really know what you're doing then your opinion is worth more than mine here and a fold is ok. But I'd need a solid opinion on what sort of player this guy is combined with a few hand specific reads to fold at that price.

Also I'd bet $75 on the flop and watch each player closely as they are faced with a much more difficult decision. Making such a small flop bet takes all the pressure off these guys. If the players involved aren't very good then you should be able to play off your reads and their image. This is a good flop for you as no draws apart from 45 are calling here so you can narrow their range down a lot. If they're dumb/spewy sort of fish that doesn't understand that TP is in big danger here and will stack off with hands like KT then just keep pounding away on turn and river. If a more weak fish makes the call without too much sweat then be afraid and check turn with a view to:
betting the river if checked to again
calling if they put in something like a $50 value bet
folding if they just can't wait to get all their chips in thereLast edited by in4rehab; 06-12-2009 at 05:30 PM.

Solid feedback.
The reason I bet so small on the flop was because I had no fear of this board, nor did I want a hand like K10 to surrender to a $75 bet, which would have surely given away my hand strength.
Then again, always take down a pot when you can.
Also, if I had bet $75 on the flop, I could be more certain if my opponent's are holding a made hand or not. Unfortunately, I didn't make that play and I stuck myself in this situation on the turn instead.
I'm still sick over this today.

I'd size the bet differently HU but I don't like inducing action in 5 way pots without a bigger hand, even on such a dry board. Once the 1st guy calls others start to feel priced in with 2nd pair or even gutshots and you start to fear any non-ace turn and river. It's just too many variables for my brain to handle.
Don't feel too bad about the hand either, it's just one of those one's where you're destined too lose big if you're hand gets cracked. The 5 players calling a big preflop raise to see such a dry flop makes it really hard to fold at any point here. I'd be interested to see how any of the better players think you should approach this.
