    Default reraise river?

this guy was 33/5, so pretty hard to put on a hand pre-flop
do you think I missed value not reraising the river?
I was afraid because I wouldn't know what to do if he shoved, so I played the safe way when the board paired

I also didn't bet more on river because I though he might be on a draw, so maybe he would call with TQ, JQ, 8T, 8J or maybe even with any Q if he put me on a draw

also, there're 7 hands which beats me, and probably 2 or 3 that he would call a big reraise with and lose

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (7 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    CO ($10)
    Button ($21.20)
    Hero (SB) ($48.95)
    BB ($56.25)
    UTG ($60.60)
    MP1 ($32.50)
    MP2 ($27.75)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J, 10
4 folds, Button calls $0.50, Hero calls $0.25, BB checks

    Flop: ($1.50) 9, Q, 8 (3 players)
Hero bets $1.20, BB calls $1.20, 1 fold

    Turn: ($3.90) 5 (2 players)
Hero bets $2.80, BB calls $2.80

    River: ($9.50) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $3, BB raises to $8.50, Hero calls $5.50

    Total pot: $26.50 | Rake: $1.30

    Results:
Hero had J, 10 (straight, Queen high).
BB had 9, A (three of a kind, nines).
    Outcome: Hero won $25.20

You should have bet at least $8 on river. Otherwise I think its fine.
Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R

KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.

3$ on river is bad IMO and now he's made a propper bet for you and you don't know where you are.

    I don't get it...
it's 70% of the pot on turn
he need to have a very good chance to improve here in order to the call to be +ev

betting pot on turn is reasonable, IMO, when you're trying to push someone out of a draw or maybe as a bet to gain information
but that was not the case, I had the nuts and wanted him to call with a larger range of hands

there was a Q on the board, for example... I don't know he would have called $3.90 with A9... I probably wouldn't

    You're not a 33/5 fish though I assume.

I've looked at this thread a few times now. I think he has enough 9s in his range and will think all of them are the nuts that a shove here is +EV.

Disagree. He's bb so any 9x is in his range and his stats wouldn't suggest he would let 92o go on the flop or turn.

I bet river bigger obviously. As played I think a shove is good because he isn't folding any 9 there.
For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.

I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.
