I was very tempted to shove on this one, but based on the preflop play I put him on AA, KK, or AK. Read is that the guy bets very hard a lot, but never got to see if he ever did have the goods because I never saw a showdown with him.

Just open fold pre-flop and you don't get in spots like this.

So you think I should have folded preflop against the 3bet?

Fold. Can't fold that 3 bet because you're getting huge pot odds. Look at your top pair shit kicker and fold it up. Sometimes it will pay off when say........the flop comes KT or TT or KK so it's worth the call and pays off (he's giving you crazy odds to call). Fold that particular flop though, and honestly if you don't know how to play KT UTG I would definitely stop playing it UTG until you learn. I know it's 6 max but play premiums UTG..........KQs would should be bare minimum for you to open raise UTG.

Honestly being a beginning player you should probably play full ring.

That's questionable. I don't think opening KTo UTG is bad at 6 max if you know that you're only playing it for straight/flush/2 pair spots on a nitty table.
Unfortunately at microstakes there's no such thing as a nitty table so folding it up should be easy as pie.
I will open raise KT suited UTG, KTo though UTG.......meh I normally let it go unless my table is very tight.

They are definitely very different games (full ring and 6 max) but I feel that you can't learn to be a good all around player unless you can play solid full ring. I'm probably a better player at full ring, but it's boring as hell unless you're playing 5-8 tables.
I'd rather sit at 2 6 max tables and make more money.

Meh, the only way to learn more about poker is to be involved in more hands.
Nothing wrong with 6max for learning how to play hands.
Absolutely. If you dont understand why you need to read some information on 3betting and ranges that you can call with against what villains. Just out of curiosity Crundy, what flop were you hoping for by calling the 3bet? If this is it then stackoff here.
I will openraise KTo UTG at 6max all day long without very specific table conditions causing me not to.Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R
KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.
