Default NL25 flopped set, drawy board 160BB's deep

The guy wasn't a rocket scientist (or if he was, he wasn't a great poker player), stats of around 35/10/2, doubled up earlier with AA.

I'd played a few flops this way where I'd missed, but nobody had looked me up, so I thought it may start coming across a bit bluffy. Although the call still suprised me.

I figured on the turn I'm getting my money in, so a check raise, but again the strong bet from a loose weak still confused me a bit. I'm not sure why I didn't bet out to stop him drawing, which I was 80% sure he was doing. I didn't even realise AQ had just secured the nutz, but to be honest it would be horrible flop play if that's what he had.

So higher sets, weird completed straights perhaps AQ, two pairs, TPTK, drawing hands. I'm pretty sure I have to get it in here and if he draws out on me or has the higher set, so be it?

$0.15/$0.25 No Limit Holdem

Converted at weaktight | fold when you know you're beat (BETA)

Stacks:
Hero ($39.05)
CO ($24.75)

BB ($132.85)

Pre-flop: ($0.4, 5 players) Hero is UTG
Hero bets $1, 1 fold, BTN calls $1, 1 fold, BB calls $0.75.

Flop: ($3.15, 3 players)
BB bets $1.50, Hero bets $5, BTN calls $5, BB folds

Turn: ($14.65, 2 players)

I make it $7 on the flop and I definitely bet the turn unless I have some godly read that he will always bet the turn when checked to.

Betting is best cos if he checks behind and a 7/9/Q/A/spade hits the river then things will be thrown at the screen etc. Plus at this level there's no way he folds JT or something, ever.

If your idea was to ck-r all-in I'm not sure why Btn bet should alter the plan - even if he has a str8 I doubt your folding with 10 outs to a FH or Quads.

However with all those str8 cards on the board I agree with Davidab157 - lead out! He may be on a pair with a str8 draw still but if he re-raises you can pretty much confirm he made his str8 or 2 pair and is also on a FH draw.

It occurs to me that check-calling may help keep the pot lower and that leading out may have the opposite effect (if he re-rasies all-in for example) and with a str8 looking very possible, it may just be your best strategy for this hand. If you hit your FH your most likely going to win a big pot or lose to a bigger FH - if you miss, you go for a ck-down or ck-fold/ck-call depending on Btn's river bet. Given that you checked, I think just a call on the turn may be your best strategy.

aces-o-8s do you play 50nl on UB by any chance? I recognise the name and sure that's where it's from.

ok that's prob for the best, cos the guy on UB I've played a fair bit with and he's a total fish, one of my favourite people to play against while i was at 50nl.
