Default AK - good call?

Cryptologic
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.03/$0.06
6 players

Stacks were all around the £4.00 mark. No specific reads, but players were between 45%-65% vpip if that helps. UTG was about 50%

Should I have bet the flop? Seemed a bit risky oop with 4 people still in. I didnt expect 4 callers lol. I would have cbet with less people, or in better position.

Perhaps I should have check-raised the turn? as everyone seemed weak or had a draw. I didnt think of that at the time, I simply called with nice odds to hit an A or K.

Comments appreciated

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, Hero raises to $0.36, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, CO folds, Button calls, SB calls.

Flop: ($1.86, 5 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, Button checks.

Turn: ($1.86, 5 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG bets $0.2, UTG+1 calls, Button folds, SB calls, Hero calls.

River: ($2.66, 4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG bets $0.97, 2 folds, Hero calls.

Results:
Final pot: $4.6

When you have this many callers preflop at this level there is no point betting a flop that completely misses you.

Glad I got that bit right. See.. I'm learning!

I think 3/1 about the guy having Ax at the end was good a price. I didn't put him on a 2, 3 or 6 because of calling the PF raise a little oop and waiting until the river to bet. Which just left pp's and Ax hands. I ruled out 99-AA as I thought he would bet the turn at least with 99/JJ. Which in my mind just left 44/55/77/88 that had me beat.

I was proud of my logic on this one. My g/f who plays a little just looked at me blankly and said she would have folded ;p

you have ace high, guy is betting into a 4way on the river and you expect him to have worse?

Don't cbet into that many people, you hardly ever take the pot down.

As played call on the turn is fine.

I think your logic for his hand range on the river is a little off, he can definitely have a 9x hand. In fact I think that line is a 9 almost always so I fold the river without reads. Calling isn't horrible though given how much they will think they can bluff you off with weak aces, and your odds are reasonable.

part of the reason for calling was that I was last to act at that point, so just down to me and him. £0.20 into a £1.80 pot on the turn was pretty weak. Nobody raised so I thought someone in his position with Ace high could well be trying to bluff it.

If someone else had called, or I had two more people to act I'd have probably folded. Just the way this hand went I thought it was an ok call. Also would have folded if I didn't have the K for the best Ace.

Blatantly bad call then or just a dubious one? If it's a bad leak I'd like to plug it

(edit: posted this before reading David's response.. thanks matey)

You have 5 limpers pre flop. Raise to 54c minimum.

Flop standard

Turn meh it's so small

River like piv said he is never bluffing here in a 4way raised pot imo.

I am amazed nobody has mentioned the possiblity he has a queen

Flop and turn are standard but I'd raise more.

River I fold.

make it at least 50c preflop, I'd put it to 60c personally. You're going to be out of position the whole hand and you have a limp parade in front of you with a wide range of holdings

flop is as everyone else said, don't cbet with air into 73935035 people
turn bet is an easy call for pot odds
river is a definite fold - 5 people saw the flop and you think they all missed?

Just reading preflop, I make it 57c. Pot +1bb cos we're OOP if my maths is right.

Yeah villain could obv have a queen but I think a 9 is more likely. Do they not minbet the flop instead of the turn with a queen alot of the time?
