Default JJ in 3bet pot vs unknown donking the flop

200nl, 5max, $200 effective, villain has just joined the table.

villain opens from HJ (calling it UTG seems silly 5 handed) to $6, I'm OTB with and re raise to $21, both blinds fold and villain calls.

Flop

- pot $43

villain bets $10, hero?

To coin david's favourite phrase am I turning my hand in to a bluff if I raise here? It doesn't seem like I get a lot of value against an unknown by raising other than getting calls off FD's, that probably aren't going to be in bad shape anyway assuming they are holding at least 1 overcard to my jacks.

Folding is obv not an option ldo

Is calling and re evaluating the turn too weak or standard?

I think there's easily enough value in raising. I'm not sure about 200nl but at every other limit I've played the tiny bet is soooo often a marginal hand wanting to keep the pot small, be it a FD or overs or a 9, whatever. And alot of donks won't fold it when raised either, which is where I think we get the value. Plus you have one of their FD outs anyway which will help a little.

He could also so easily have AQ or something and we need to protect our hand. Calling lets a ton of scary turn cards come off and we have no idea where we stand.

I think it's a standard raise.

It seemed like a bog standard raise at the time but are we calling a shove?

This is interesting with JJ.
As you say his bet looks so weak that I would instantly raise it with no pairs however raising JJ does somewhat turn our hand into a bluff if we can't call a shove.

Id make it $40.

I don't think it's a bluff as such cos he will call with worse I'd imagine.

if you've been 3betting him light isn't weak lead/shove a pretty sick line to take as a bluff? as long as he doesn't run into a big pair there's not much that can call a shove.

pop it up to 29$, and if he calls then play the hand as if he check-called ur cbet. if he 3bets you, then play the hand as if he had check-raised ur cbet.
