Default 200nl - JTs in 3bet pot on J high board

200nl 5max, $200 effective, villain is playing something around 27/18 with a fairly high ATSB %. I'm running about 20/18 and should have a fairly solid image. We don't have any 3betting history yet.

BTN opens to $7 and I make it $23 with , BTN calls.

Flop

- pot $46

I bet $28, BTN calls

Turn

- pot $102

I?

A few things I'd like to be discussed.

Do we like 3betting JTs OOP against a fairly solid TAG player? In position I will generally call much more often than I will 3bet with a hand like this.

Do we bet the flop? Presumably we don't want to play for stacks here but we can also get some calls off some mid pairs like 99 and checking gives hands like AQ a free chance to overtake. If we can assume his range is TT+/AQ+ and some random suited connectors/small pairs that he is calling PF to bluff with post flop then isn't betting burning money? Should we c/c? c/f?

As played is turn a standard c/f?

Apologies if it is a bit of a rambling mess

27/18 isn't exactly TAG.

I think pf I'd mix it up between 3betting and calling to bluff raise/float flops (obv folding is fine, but I don't suppose that's the question here). I suppose this depends on how much he plays back in 3bet pots or how often I'd been 3betting, also if his cbet % is huge I like calling to play at him on the flop a little more.

How many hands is this over? Cos the gap between vpip and pfr makes me think he calls too much and this may involve him calling lighter when 3bet, I might like to get a read on how he reacts first, making me a little more likely to call and play at him on the flop.

Flop, hmm. Again reads on how likely he is to bluff raise would help, like the fold cbet/raise cbet %. tbh I like a check. We obv don't fold out any better hands, and I think betting and then c/f turn kinda gives him too much scope to float us and take it away. It's a tough spot imo, but the risk of giving him a free card I don't think is as bad as the risk of him pushing us off the best hand later on. I think I like c/c on the flop and then evaluate the turn.

Turn is a c/f for me unless he's so aggro he loves to float flops and take it away on the turn, in which case a gambooooly crai could be good.

It's an interesting one though, I'm interested to hear what the "good" players (ie. not me ) make of it.

I don't use PAHUD

Maybe the answer to should we be 3betting JTs here is "Not until we have much more info on the player"

btw 27/18 was a guess

5-bet shove then whine in River Rats when he calls you with 77.

Check his genuine stats in PT, you could be way, way, way off just guessing, particularly assuming your playing 4+ tables.
