25NL with AA
9 handed game.
I am dealt AA
Player 1 raises to $1.25
I re-raise to 3.50
Everyone folds to Player 1
Player 1 calls
Flop: 8h 9h 10s
Player 1 checks it to me
I pot bet it. $7.35
Player 1 goes all in ($13.35 more for me)
I call
Player 1 shows JQ of clubs
Looking back I could have popped up pre flop a little more. Anyone else play this different? Please respond.

uhhh why so much? $6 is nearly 5x his raise, standard is 3.5x.

This is only from experience, but people tend to call with KT-JQ type of hands (along with any pocket pair) preflop, so might aswell try and get asmuch money is as possible preflop, right?
imo.

eh i've never tried adjusting sizes of bets/raises pf, pro nlhe vol 1 suggests it but the concept is hugely exploitable, but if you think people aren't observant enough at nl5 to call such a huge raise then go for it and basically stack off on any flop.
generally though i see no reason to deviate from the standard 3.5x 3bet pf.

If you're UTG+1 9 handed with AA and already raised to $1.xx, I pop up to al least $5. PF actually worked out perfect as you isolated a donk calling his mediocre JQs. I'm happy to go broke here.

If you're gonna start raising bigger with AA etc. you're gonna have to do the same sized raise with weaker hands as well otherwise you become far too predictable and easy to read. I'm not a fan of raising bigger cos you'll be bloating the pot with your weaker hands too much.
Standard is just raise the pot so make it like $4ish.

Not much you could have done about that IMO mate, your preflop play was fine, no way you could have put him on that hand
