people generally shit on minraises because they're often made with marginal hands on draw-heavy boards. Thus, they build up a pot when the raiser should be eliminating hands.

In this case though, you're doing it to build a pot and get that BB to keep putting more money in the pot, which was successful. The flop isn't very scary for this play, and if villains hold 89 or TT then nh, you're not getting away anyways.

Only concern I have with the play is that it leaves your turn raise pretty small, and this particular turn isn't that great to see. Giving your villain 4:1 and the BB possibly 5:1 allows a number of draws to stay in there. Looks like a blank landed on the river though.

You were aiming to play for stacks and did just that plus dead money, so nh

I actually like the minraise here.

My reasoning behind it is; If you put in a decent-sized raise on this flop (3-4x) you're pretty much forcing both players to call only with made hands on the flop (AT + TT + overpairs)

Minraise pretty much sweetened the pot for you with the 3rd person calling aswell and made it much easier for you to get the money in on the turn.

My two cents.

I'd much prefer if you were 1st to act on the turn so you shove straight up but you're commited anyway so i dont mind it.

a normal size c/r basically forces your opponents to play correctly.

having said, don't do this every time you hit a set obv.

After seeing BTN raise to 11 pf and hten fire 19 post flop I would put him on KK or AA knowing he has an over pair. Shoving this flop would get you a call everytime imo. However, as played I like it. Did he show KK???

"other guy is a loose passive fishy type"

changed my mind, he's already called $19, make him call a ton more. no reason to deviate from standard line here i dont think. $60ish at a min.

Fold pf after the 3bet would be good but the call isn't that bad (playing at the moment so haven't done the maths)

On the flop I prefer a lead, if you're going to c/mr I prefer a HU pot.

what i said to piv:

davidab157157: well hu against the 3bettor i prob lead/shove or crai
davidab157157 (1:12:04 AM): but i think the fishy guy will fold to a shove
davidab157157 (1:12:12 AM): but he'll feel committed to call a minraise
davidab157157 (1:12:23 AM): especially if the other guy calls first
davidab157157 (1:12:37 AM): and i reckon i could get him to felt some really marginal hands

davidab157157:high variance but i thought they'd both call the shove
davidab157157 (1:15:03 AM): with tpwk type hands etc.
davidab157157 (1:15:26 AM): like a standard crai or bet/shove line just makes it too easy for them
davidab157157 (1:15:37 AM): they can play correctly and i rarely get their stack

I hate minraises, just make it at least 2.5x

even though it's kind of results oriented, he folded to a 1/3 pot turn shove so he couldn't have had much of a hand. he's obv folding to a big flop raise imo.
