what to do on ridiculous monster flops
first hand sitting down at this table, so no reads and no established table image
what's the best line here to maximizing your take? do we c-bet the flop because people might "expect" us to do that following our pf raise or do we check down the line and hope someone catches and pays us?
PokerStars No Limit Hold-em, Big Blind is $0.10 (4 handed)
saw flop| saw showdown
Hero ($6)
UTG ($4.80)
Button ($4.60)
SB ($1.85)
Hero is BB with .
Pre-Flop:
UTG calls, 1 folds, SB calls, Hero raises to $0.60, UTG calls, 1 folds.
Flop: (Pot=$1.30) (2 players)
Hero ??

This is tough without and reads because we have no idea about tendencies to bluff when checked to or even float. I think I normally bet here and hope he has a flush draw
I also think checking is fine though

Yeah with zero reads it's tough to decide. However I think the best would be to cbet a low amount, say 50c into the $1.30 pot. This way people would probably call on a flush draw, any pocket pair, possibly with a 5, or maybe even high cards to hope to catch something later since it is cheap to stay in. It also looks like a cautious bet to most players, looking like you want to cbet to take the pot but don't want to risk too much incase someone has a 10.
But all you can really do when flopping quads is hope. Hope that at least 1 person has a good enough hand to donate some more cash to your piggy bank of destruction

yeah, if it wasn't the first hand of the night I would've gone off reads or whatever I thought my perceived table image was. But also I made this thread just to get a feel for what people typically do in these situations, not just this hand.
fwiw, I ended up checking to the river and making a .50c bet, which was folded to.

Betting or checking the flop is fine, but a check could complete a flush for someone hopefully.

That's a really bad line to take as it gets you no value with your quads. If you bet that flop with air you have to bet it with a monster as well. If you start checking alot when you hit a huge flop people will soon pick off your cbets as bluffs and you'll get floated all over the place.
The whole point when you have a huge hand is to get the other person's stack. To do that you need to build the pot which means bet bet bet. At this level you'll get flop calls from A high and obv any flush draws. It seems scary to bet the quads on the flop as they will fold alot of the time, but you get so much more value in the long run. Just think, you let this guy get to a showdown for 50c. If you check the flop you have to bet the turn 110%.
If I had reads that they bluff alot, I would check a fair amount though.

Open fold flop and worry about how to play AK when 3bet instead.

That may be true, but I'm not flopping monsters enough for that to happen, even if the monkeys at this limit are perceptive enough to catch on to that. But I agree with the rest of what you said.

given stacks, i don't really mind a check here, b/c he is short enough that you can get allin using only 2 streets. if villain were fullstacked, flop is a mandatory bet
