Turn: 8d Im First to act I push all in 70$

He calls, River is 7d I flips Q J off suit, I loose

Now Ive been observing this player for a long time, he calls with any ace or 2 face cards any bet. so this showdown was bound to happen weather I had raises 15$ or 20$

now Did i make a mistake here? should I have checkd the turn and see what the River broght if he checked? help please
