Default NL10 - Conservative approach?

Had not been at this table for long. No stats on villain. Was this too conservative? With this flop I kinda thought maybe I should just fold this while I was not invested that much. I also think I should have raised the flop but honestly with no reads on villain I am not sure.

Way too passive, always 3bet a standard raise pf. Lead flop and you'll probably take the pot down, only really a naked 9 or TT can call apart from floats.

Your hand is seriously underrepped and you're losing a lot of value.

The problem is I tend to get into trouble in these situations being new to the table and having no reads or info on villain whatsoever. I just think I was better off playing it careful here. What if villain was a super tight player and had QQ, KK, or AA? I know its not necessarily likely but it seems a little foolish to just jump into a hand like this knowing nothing about who I am playing with. I suppose I should have 3bet him though. I am still working on the whole 3betting thing.

You have to 3bet this preflop. Being OOP means if you play this passive you will have no clue where you stand. Under-repping your hand like you did means you have to call the turn bet imo.

If you 3bet preflop you put yourself on the offensive and it compensates for your positional disadvantage. Calling and c/r the flop isn't absolutely terrible, but I'd say it's better than the call and check-call line.

EDIT: And if you are worried about the villain being super tight and only playing QQ+, you'll find out when you 3bet. If he puts a 4bet in, you can prob fold and save alot more money than check-calling each street.

Yeah 3betting is an issue for me in that I dont really do it...lol. I only really 3bet AA and KK preflop. I will sometimes do QQ. Piv has been helping me lately with my 3betting so I intend to start really doing a lot before I start NL25.
