Default 777 vs. ??

I have a hand to ask:

Sit and go tournament, 6 players left. Blinds were 5/10.
I had about $75 in chips left.

Hold 7d 7h. 4 people called/checked and saw flop. I was the next one after BB.

Flop: Kh 8d 6c (or similar rainbow color. No flush draw.)
(Pot = $40)
Everyone checks.

Turn: 5s.
I turned a straight draw plus a likely winning pair. I bet out $15 (~$50 left).
Folded to BB (to my right), who was the only caller.

River: 7c
BB raised $30. Should I call/raise/fold?
Or should I have played the hand differently? Thanks.

personally I would be pushing this preflop given the fact you are short stacked and need to make a move before the blinds kill you. Before the flop you are probably 50/50.

The river bet looks like a steal to me, or the BB has the K and was hoping someone would bet earlier and now is just going for value. I very much doubt he has KK although the straight is always a possibility.

With less than 10bb left though you may not get another hand this good, shove and pray.

Thanks.
Actually in my last game I pushed with 77 under a similar situation, and got 2 callers turning over 99 and 10 10, lol.
So I tried something different here.

The caller turned out to be a weak player who called my turn raise with 4c Jc. He hit a two-outer and successfully milked me for another $30. No mater what I do I am screwed, lol.

Wrong forum, you want the tournament one not the ring game one.

Anyway, shove pf.

I do shove quite often (and always run into a higher pocket pair, duh). So I try something different from time to time.

Is it just my luck or it is normal to shove pre-flop with 77, 88... JJ and lose every single time to a higher overpair? And by chance I should have been able to bad beat at least one of them, but it hasn't happened yet, lol.

You are shortstacked in this tournament. Your M is 5 with an effective M of around 3. You need to be shoving any pair, any ace, K9+, K2s+, any suited connector and any non-suited connecter 98+. If you want to know why, purchase and read Harrington on Holem Vols. 1 and 2
