This is the same guy that I stacked earlier in the session so part of me worries about him trying to trap me with a monster.

How do you think I played this? The river is definitely a scare card because it makes the straight (not too worried about the backdoor flush).


I usually bet this flop about $1.50, I'm not sure why such a small bet here. The small river bet was to try and stop him from pushing on a bluff. Should I be betting more here or check/calling or check/folding? If he shoves the river do I call?

I bet slightly bigger on the flop, closer to pot, maybe like $1.75.

As played I play the river the same, at these levels they don't understand the concept of the block bet and given his range is probably big, you can get paid off by a fair few hands you beat.

The problem I see with checking is it allows him to control the pot, he'll probably check behind with any hand you beat while he'll bet closer to the pot (or at NL25 they often shove) with the straight or backdoor flush.

If he shoves to your river bet, without reads I fold probably but the odds would definitely be tempting.
