Default Am i overplaying draws.......again?

I would appreciate comments on the following hand.

I hadn't been at the table long, probably 2 orbits and the villain hadn't done anything major in that time.

Hero (CO) ~$25
Villain (Button) ~ $20

0.25c / 0.50c 6 Handed NL Holdem

There is a fold and a limp in front of me and I limp with

Villain calls, SB folds, BB checks. (4 players to the flop - $2.25)

Flop :

It gets checked around to me and I thought about betting, but checked to see what the button did. He bets $3 and the BB and EP fold.

It looked like a steal to me, or a weak ace so I decided to raise as a semi bluff with my OESD + Flush draw. I raised up to $12.

Villain pushed his last $16.

The pot was $33 and it was $7 for me to call. I gotta call right?

Any comments about how I played the flop would be appreciated.

I'm trying not to be results orintated so the outcome doesn't matter. I will post the results of the hand after a few comments though.

You're the favourite with 15 outs. I probably would have bet out instead of going for the check raise but I dont think theres anything wrong with how you played it.

You played it perfectly, there isn't any hand that's a big favorite over yours, except exactly 89d

Well played, getting your stack in on the flop with an OESFD is never wrong. I don't like small suited connectors very much when I only have 50 bb's but I guess that's just me.

I would have bet the flop. That said, it looks like he would have raised anyway. Good play. That is exacly the kind of flop you want with your hand. Hope you caught your out.

I play very tight and with only 1 limper in front, I'd have quietly mucked this preflop. That being said, on the flop, you are probably a favorite to win the hand. If the other guy has AK with K being a diamond, you are a 51% favorite.

This isn't entirely true. QJd is a 64-35 (just under 2-1) favorite. A set is 3-2 favorite, 89d is 3-1 favorite, and 86d is 4-1 favorite.

Since you are getting just under 2-1 odds, and are in a coin flip, you should continue with the hand. Personally, if I felt that a raise would cause him to fold, I'd raise, but with these donks, he's not folding Ace-anything. Probably I'd call his flop bet, though sometimes I will raise it with the intention of check-raising the turn if I hit my hand (especially if the turn is something like 3c with looks like a blank.)

Oops you're right. So there's a few hands you're a big underdog, but still a ton that are about even money, and since there's money in the pot already I'm not folding here.

I'd make that call even if I thought the guy was holding top set...
