Default Best Hand 8-players

Assume 8 players all go all-in pre-flop and everybody shows their cards before the community cards are dealt. Is there a way to work out who has the best chance of winning the hand? (remember I am talking pre-flop so no community cards are out yet). What's the maths? Is there perhaps a way to calculate this in Excel?

Well, after crunching the numbers... let's see... carry the 4... add in the redraw to the diamond... your answer is Aces.

Not if someone else has aces too. Then, you prolly want to fold. If the 2 remaining aces are live than AA should be the best hand in any multiway pot.

To answer the question, use PokerStove to calc such scenarios.

Bad.

You can't see their cards.

Yeah, but the question was assuming you could see their cards.

You're right of course in reality it would always be a call.

Are you even allowed to show your cards before the flop, live?

No. Your hand is dead in most houses.

His example is everyone goes all-in and THEN shows their cards. He wants to know how to figure out the best hand. In the moment, you can do the maths by figuring out everyone's outs and put the best hand against the draws and incorporate a lot of redraws.

DaFish is right in that Hold 'em isn't video poker. Every hand's is only as strong as the others are weak. Go to http://www.pokerstove.com and download Poker Stove. It's a fun little toy to play with.
