After giving it some thought, I believe that trying to compare Harrington to Raymer is fermented grape juice to apples. IMHO, Raymer hasn't been around long enough to really give him the respect that harrington should get.

I'm not trying to say that Raymer isn't a great player. He's currently my second favorite player to watch (Daniel Negreanu is my current favorite). The fields Raymer has waded through to get to where is has can't even be compared to the greats of years ago, however I think he needs to put more time in. He even admitted in a TV commentary of the 2004ME that for the last year he's been traveling around playing tourneys and doing appearances at casinos. He acted pleasantly surprised that people play him for this when he's having such a great time. He's still a younger (Poker age) player then some of the greats...and imho before he can be compared to them he needs to put more time in...

I dont get how you could have Raymer's accomplishment more than Williams considering williams would have gotten first in the bigger field..

Say huh???? When your HU, your HU. The both would have to had fought through identical fields each time to get to guranteed second. Thinking like that, they should have jsut sat down at a .02/.04 HU table on stars to fight it out....

I think getting to the final table takes a lot of luck....however when you get to the final table skill defently has an advantage.

No, the larger field is still signifigant. When you get hu, they don't stop the game and even the stacks.

But they BOTh had to get through the same thing.... field size is irrelevant if you BOTH get to the final 2 BOTH times.....

Marm is correct. Once it is headsup, it doesn't matter the field size. They both had to outlast 2600 and 5600. Once it is headsup, it is a matter of who outplays the other. I would think both accomplishments would be equal, unless there was a large differential in the chip counts when it got to the final 2. For instance, if Williams had come back and won last year, but Raymer wins this yea when they go to headsup even, David's achievement would have been greater.
