Default ***OFFICIAL 2005 WSOP THREAD (pre-TV)

This is the thread for all 2005 WSOP discussion. Binion's Horseshoe has shuffled up and dealt 4 events already (3 real ones of interest. Event #1 is always the casino workers' Event, which would be great for television, but will never be there, and the trolls aren't interested in poker players with jobs. I guess having a job outside of poker makes you an "amateur." The masses are asses. Nothing new there.)

Here's a good link for up-to-date winners which links to live updates and blogs of ongoing events: http://live.cardplayer.com/world_ser...005winners.php

Shuffle up and deal!

I'm off to Las Vegas tomorrow for vacation with my wife and a bunch of other couples. As things turn out, our babysitter's grandparents work for the World Poker Tour. For the WSOP, one of the grandparents is in-charge of the satellites, and the other is responsible for making sure the tables are balanced as players get eliminated from the events. We were invited to look them up after we get to Vegas, and they've promised to give us an inside look at running the games.

I'll post a report about my trip after I get back next week. Wish me luck!

They'll probably only do the Main Event final table again. I couldn't watch that. I can't watch people play poker if I'm not in the game or scouting. I can watch on TV, but only for about 15 minutes or so unless Negreanu, Hansen, Ivey, or Juanda are there. Hellmuth's good to watch too. I watch poker on TV for the interesting people, not the poker. Most poker players are boring.

Is the $10k PLO event new??? That should be an awesome final table, seeing as NLHE is the choice of the amateur player, they're probably won't be many unknowns at that final table......

Nope, it's not new. Last year's FT included Lederer, Negraneu, and Deebs. There were probably others that I am forgetting. But, the guy who won was a complete fish. He didn't even realize he had a straight on one hand, and he was betting it because he thought he had top pair. It was something like that, but I have a bad memory.

EDIT: Ted Lawson was the guy who won.

I just checked. It was a $5000 buy-in with rebuys. I could have sworn that I heard Norm say it was $10K. Sorry about that.
