Sure would be fun to play full time, whether you win big or bust big.

Playing full time must be extremely draining. I can't imagine having to rely on poker for a living.

I find it preferable to having to wake up earlier than I want and go and take orders from someone else.

If any of you currently play full time, I would appreciate any advise on managing records and paying taxes.

what made you decide to turn pro? when do you know you can turn pro? winning at $25/hour doesn't make it seem worth it, since there is always a chance you can lose and get stuck

Good luck mate.

It's obvious that you are going to give it a real shot. I just hope the boredom and tediousness of playing 50 hours a week doesn't get to you.

I personally gave playing poker full-time a shot, and did quite well but ended up having far too many brain explosions, and blew my profits. (put it down to boredom of staring at a computer screen with no contact with people, and letting the emotion get to me)

I find it much easier now to play about 20 hours a week, and taking up other ventures. I still enjoy poker, so posting at forums like this is good, because it's something I enjoy doing, but doesn't drain the energy out of me like playing constantly does.

Anyways, I'm rambling. Good luck, If you have a great deal of emotional control, I'm sure you will do well.

Maintain accurrate Daily Records of your play !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will be able to claim Professional Gambler which gives you some advantages over the general screw job they give Non-Professional Gambling Income (but still crappy).

You have to file quarterly -- If you are completely ignorant of the Tax Situation and have some money (which it sounds like you do), Immediately look for a Gambling (Poker) Accountant and tell him your plans (under no circumstances hire or take advice from a Non-Gambling Tax expert/Accountant).

If you contact them before you start they can advise you properly before you screw up

Also, it would probably be beneficial to look at the Rose website (He is the Lawyer who specializes on Gambling Matters)

Good Luck
