hen you are in a LIVE tourney or cash game..when you reach for chips do you knwo how many are in EACH of YOUR stack or do you just stack them? ( like each stack has 100$ in chips or whatnot)
on T.V and on some live games i usually see people reach for chips and just raise and THEY DIDNT EVEN CHECK TO SEE HOW MUCH THEY HELD IN THERE HAND
SO when I see people raise in a tourney and they don't even look at there chips and put them infront of them..Do they AUTOMATICALLY know how much they RAISED to?

I would think if they had any skill and were a good player they would know. I mean i just cant see why you would just throw a random stack into the pot. I have never done it, and never seen it done.

Most people keep a standard stack size, either 20 or 40 to a stack. Multiply the denomination by 20 or 40 and you know how much is in the stack.
If you are one in a million, there's eight just like you in Manhattan.

edit: removed cheesy story of faking with aces.
Fact is, you should always be well aware of every dollar in your stack. I giggle slightly when people put out chips, and I ask them how much, and they have to count it. Then I get to watch them count and can get a good read from most everyone at my home games. When they answer me straight out, I can also get a bit of info on the people I know from the tone.
When they say "$550" when the they drop the chips on the table I get the least information, so that is what I try to do. My tone/attitude varies depending on current table conversation. If I'm short a couple bucks, I could be drunk, or not paying attention, but still trying to fake it.Last edited by Pinguaq; 03-06-2007 at 04:54 PM.

when i play live (or i guess when i used to) i would always stack my chips the same. I only played red chip games (1/2nl, 2/5nl, 10/20 15/30) so i would have $200 stacks of red facing outward. once i got to like 1k or something i might drop down to $150 stacks and go 2 colums outward.
I am very talented at chip stacking as i can do lots of cool towers. with 2k+ in red chips i can do a really neat spiral, and with about 1k i can do something i cant explain but it looks really cool.
I have some pics i will post in a bit.
