Default Phil ivey is Tiger Woods!

They are both good at their sport, they both play with clubs , and getting 1 on the card is always good news. Plus - have you ever seen them in the same venue together? Didnt think so!

1.) Poker's not a sport.

2.) Why is it that when Person A is great at playing X, but most of the others that play X don't look like A, white people have to always search outside of X's field to find someone to compare A to. Or they find someone else of the same race in the same field. It's retarded.

Every Latin pitcher is the next Juan Marichal or Pedro Martinez. Every white basketball player's the next Larry Bird (like Adam Morrison, who's more like the next Reggie Miller). Every black quarterback's the next Randall Cunningham or Warren Moon. My fav QB was Steve Young and no one compared him to anyone because he's white and "white boys ain't s'posed'ta run like dat." The occasional Bobby Douglas would pop up, but Douglas had no arm.

3.) If you can't tell, I have a little poker man-crush on Ivey, but nobody's "El Tigre." Nobody.

Fools-Gold, are you trying to say that Ivey is to Poker what Tiger is to Golf?

meh i would argue poker is a sport. I see it on european sports channels all the time. it might not require athletic abilities but it does require concentration and endurance, people will argue but i always consider it a sport. I guess i am saying ivey is to poker what tiger is to golf. But i also notice they looked the same they have the same build, the same roundish face bald head. just thought i would point it out!

Yeah, they look alike.

But, the term 'Tiger Woods of golf" started here in America more because they're both Blacks dominating worlds that Blacks aren't known to dominate. I was just ranting a bit. Mostly because of a White college basketball player just drafted into the NBA who only gets compared to "The Best White Basketball Player Ever" when he plays a lot like a Black player that recently retired.

I just think that when discussing what these people do and not how they look, you demean what guys like Tiger Woods and Larry Bird do and have done by taking someone out of their field or even in the same field and start those Journalism 101 comparisions.

I've never like this comparison, there's nothing malicious about it, but its borderline racism in my book.

If you want to put them in Page 2's "Seperated at Birth" then go ahead otherwise unless Ivey just starts winning every tournament the comparison is crap.

that was exacktly what i was thinking the other day when my inside edge magazine was open over the sports section of the mail

Omg i new someone would scream racism for gods sake, society has gone crazy!!!

That shit pisses me right off

If someone said 2 white people looked the same no one would scream racism, thats just fuking insane

I bet if someone even said "all whites look the same" or even real white racist crap no one would bat an eyelid
