Default High Stakes Poker - Worst theme song ever?

New season of High Stakes Poker is on, I think the second episode was tonight. I found it on my Tivo and watched it a couple hours ago. Love it, Matusow is on it this time so he will probably go crazy and try to fight someone, which will be cool. At least the Shiek wasn't playing. He is worse than Matusow I think.

Anyway, theme song aside, what do you guys think of this show? Like it better than WPT?

I definately do, I like hearing the players talk to each other the whole game and just seeing everyone's personalities. And I think Sam Farha is hilarious, but I think I am the only one.

Oh yeah, Phil Laak is playing, too, which sucks, but that means Jennifer Tilly is also there just hanging around, which is good.

Edit: Perhaps I should have put this in the Professionals & Tournaments forum? Sorry.

I just saw it for the first time yesterday. I always missed it when it was on, but I've seen clips of hands all over the internet, so yesterday, I downloaded the whole first season and I love the show. I hate poker on television, but this is quality programming. The production's great. Benza and Kaplan are drop dead hiarious at times. I love Gabe Kaplan. I think that's why I don't like poker on TV. I grew up with Gabe Kaplan calling events when you couldn't see the cards and that was the best until this show.

You can't compare it to WPT. They serve different purposes.

There isn't one thing I do not like about this show. Tonight's episode was great. I was cracking up when DN said "Sammy's got nothing" in the tone of voice you use when playing peek-a-boo with a 3 year old, and Farha cracks and smiles and DN calls to get the pot.

And then when Matusow is talking and talking, and finally DN uses the nuclear option: "You say you'll play everybody here heads up, but you can't play for napkins. You have to actually have some money."

Classic. Almost as good as when Jeremy Roenick said Patrick Roy was probably up in the United Center rafters looking for his jock after Roenick scored on him and Roy said "I can't hear what Jeremy says...because I got my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears."

Go to bushtorrent.com and they have the whole 1st season that'll dl in one folder. Pretty quick download for about 2-2.5GB of material. If you're lacking the space, they're up there one-by-one as well.

If you search, we have had a few dicussions about last season's show. I'm a big fan. I've said for a while that Farha and Matusow are my favorite players to watch. There is high entertainment value in both their personalities and style of play.

This season is very interesting to watch. What effect do you guys think the Mouth is having on the table? He's definitely not known as a cash player, but he's not letting up on his "Mouth" routine. Obviously, Negraneau and Esfandiari are getting rubbed the wrong way by him. DN, especially, looks like he's been getting really worked up. Think its affecting their play?

I don't think it affects DN. Matusow and DN are really tight with each other as DN is with Hellmuth, so he's used to their mouths just from being good friends. Not to mention, DN complaining about someone talking too much is the pot calling the kettle black. DN is very positive, but he's still a motormouth unless he's running bad. He's aware of this and I've picked up a tell on him that he's forcing himself to not ramble when he a strong hand. I only notice this because I aware of this in myself, too.

Matusow's definitely known to the people at the table as a cash gamer. This guy will money on anything if there's a line on it. Everything I've heard about Matusow has been in shorthanded cash games, though. But his ability is matched by very, very few. I'd give him a status just below Ivey just because I've seen more of Ivey. Both are nasty and both scare the hell out of me.
