Default Different types of tourneys questions

Hi

What are all the different kinds of tournerments online i dont know what these ones are and i dont know if there are many others: sng's, mmt any more? What are the big $150-$300 entry ones with like $50k-100k prize cash ones?

Is it easier to make money in tourneys when you first start or cash games do you think? at limit holdem

Thanks

Some other tourney types:

Rebuys. Allows you to buy a new chip stack, should you go broke. Usually the rebuy period is restricted until the first break.

Satellites. Tourneys that dont award any cash price, but simply an entry to another tourney.

Freeroll. A tourney with "free" entry. Usually the entry isn't really free, but paid with frequent player points. So the term is somewhat of a fraud.

Sng's can be MTT as well (MTT just means multi-table tourney). I've seen SnG's with as many as 180 seats (20 tables), and as soon as they fill up they start.

I've never played much in the way of limit tourneys, but I've always had pretty decent success in NL SnG's.

One clarification to Fish: rebuys don't necissarily make you go broke before you can rebuy. Many allow it once you go below your starting stack. That means that if you start with 1500 chips, you can limp in on the first hand, fold it, and immediately rebuy to give you nearly 3000 chips.

There's regulars and SnGs.

Regular means, a tourney starts at a specific time, say 12:00 ET. Registration usually starts an hour before start.
Regular tourneys are the ones with highest prices, and often many people entering them, sometimes thousands of people.

SnG means, a tourney starts as soon as X players have registered. They run all the time, ie as soon as one tourney with say 100 men is filled & launched, you can register for the next one.
