Well, although I haven't been diagnosed, I think I'm somewhat ADD. But I focus best at poker tables, so i don't know what to tell you. They have medicines for adults who need to stay focused, but I can't remember the names.
Google it.

You are so tired that you just stop caring? When your that close to the big win? If that is the case, you need to stop playing poker. It is all about patience and endurance.

dude...thats bad advice...seriously
some people dont have the patience at first. its just like a sport, you cant always last a whole game at first, the more you run, the better conditioned you get... poker is kind of like that sometimes, you just get used to it and have better stamina the more you play. i suggest getting up and taking a break for 10 minutes or so, go walk around outside, get some fresh air...the more you play, the more you will be able to withstand the long hours that tournaments usually throw at you

I agree with nu2mdwest.
You need to develop more stamina. The more of these tournaments you play, the easier they will become.
Also, make full use of your breaks. (They do give you breaks at these tournaments, right?) Instead of hanging around the table and chatting, make a point of getting away and focusing on something completely different, like going outside and breathing. The idea is to reset yourself mentally so you can return to the table in a refreshed state.

Take a 2 min break, chew some gum, drink a glass of water, get a blowjob from a hot swedish chick.... any of those work for me.

I'm the exact opposite. I find it hard to pay attention and stay focused in the early stages of a tournament, when the stakes don't seem so high.

May seem like bad advice to you, but if he has been playing for 4 years he should know how to sit through an entire 28 person tournament and stay relatively focused. Unless it ran rediculously long for some reason. I understand fatigue and mental breakdown, but when you reach final table being second in chips, you would think that would be a big enough motivator to come back. I dont know, maybe I am an ass and dont know what I am talking about. Try drinking an energy drink or something....

Don't judge anything on 1 tournament.
You could have been tired due to a bad night's sleep/stress/temperature/etc.
You may have only got to final table due to good cards.
You may have not won due to getting bad cards.
Doesnt matter how tired you are at the final table you can still win, you may make a bad play calling an all in with Ace 8 because your tired and your opponent shows AK and you hit an 8 and win.
How did you lose within minutes from being 2nd anyway?
