Triton Poker Set To Create History In London With $1.3 Million Buy-in Event
The Triton Super High Roller Series is set to break a new record in London as it hosts the biggest buy-in tournament in poker history. This will be the first time that the popular high-roller poker series will visit the English capital and it will be a stop to remember for all!
Featuring seven events with buy-ins starting at £25,000, the popular tour will land in London from July 31 to August 7. Catering exclusively to high rollers, this is Triton Poker’s first endeavour in London, after previously hosting tournament stops in, Montenegro, the Philippines, Jeju and Macau these past few years.
The Triton Million – A Helping Hand for Charity will be the Main Event in London. The event has a staggering buy-in of £1,050,000 which is over $1.3 million. This breaks the previous record accomplished by Big One For One Drop, held at Monte Carlo three years ago, with its €1,000,000 buy-in.
The much-anticipated event is a by-invitation-only affair with most of the players being high stake gamblers and successful business moguls from all around the world. With invitation holders permitted to register one guest into the event, well-known high-stake poker pros are also expected to descend on the exclusive venue.
Triton Champions Gambling For A Cause
Triton Poker is reserving £50,000 of each entry fee for charitable causes, doubling down on in its pledge to donate to different philanthropic endeavors around the world. In 2016, Triton donated $24,000 (PHP 1,150,000) Project Pink Philippines, a support group for breast cancer patients and their family members. Among Triton’s other previous beneficiaries include the Caring for Children Foundation, Healthy HK, and Caritas De Macau.
Tournament organizers will take £50,000 from the buy-in and donate it towards multiple charities with the remaining £1,000,000 going directly to the prize pool.
Triton Super High Roller Series in London
The first day of the Triton Super High Roller Series in London will see their pool of players being divided between poker professionals and recreational gamblers. During this initial stage, the two groups will not play against each other. The two groups will join after Level 6 and the traditional freeze-out format will be followed for the rest of the tournament.
New rules and regulations are set to implemented by the organizers to make things as exciting as possible. Among the new rules introduced is that players are not allowed to cover any part of their body from the neck up. This means they have to get rid of their cap, sunglasses, scarves, hoodies or jumpers.
Only players at the TV tables are allowed to wear sunglasses which will serve as protection from the bright lights. They can also wear caps but must ensure that it does not cover up any part of their face. Those who make it to the final table will have to come in a full suit.
The games kick off with each player holding 1,000,000 in chips, played in one-hour level throughout during the event. Following a big blind ante structure, the tournament will have a 20-second pre-flop, 25-second flop and 30-second turn. There will also be a river shot clock used during the event.
One can expect some of the premier high rollers in the industry to show up for the London event. Some of the names that have already been confirmed included controversial businessman Paul Phua from Malaysia, Triton Poker founder Richard Yong and his son Wai Kin Yong, Chinese tycoons Sun Yaqi and Liang Yu plus Americans Rick Salomon and Bobby Baldwin.
With the enormous prize pool, the winner of the charity event is poised to unseat Antonio Esfandiari and his $18,346,673 record for single largest victory in poker history. Esfandiari took the record for the biggest payout in history after defeating 48 entrants in The Big One for One Drop tournament in 2012.
The Triton Poker Super Series London is slated to run for eight days and will be held at the Grand Ballroom of Park Lane Hilton in Mayfair. The beneficiaries of this year’s tournament include Healthy Hong Kong, Caring for Children Foundation, Raising for Effective Giving (REG).
