A holiday buffet of promotions on PokerStars

pokerstars-vip-club2013 has been a bumper year for promotions on PokerStars, and the world’s largest online poker site is finishing the year off in style by bringing pretty much all of them back one more time for December.

More Millions

A number of the promotions focus around PokerStars’ flagship tournament, the Sunday Million. On the 1st, four of the regular Sunday tournaments – including the Million – were doubled up, with duplicate versions starting up half an hour after the originals. On the 8th, there will be a special edition of the Sunday Million with a whopping $5 million guarantee, and another on the 22nd with $2 million guaranteed.

In total, December will see $11 million in guarantees for Sunday Millions, nearly triple what you’d see in a typical month.

Mission Weeks Revisited and more

Last month, we wondered when we would next see the November Mission Weeks promotion repeated. The answer, it turns out, is “right away.” There’s only one Mission Week this December, from the 9th to the 16th, but it pays out the same half-million in prizes as each of the three we saw in November.

Meanwhile, this week has Golden Sit-n-Gos making a similar comeback, with $500,000 being handed out randomly to SNG players at all levels.

Next, there will be Milestone Hand jackpots for cash game players, starting on December 16th. A total of 300 jackpots will be handed out for hands with numbers ending in 000,000.

Finally, the month will wrap up with a sort of miniature WCOOP, consisting of 8 events with varying buy-ins and prize pools, the last and largest being the $2,100 main event with $3 million guaranteed.

Expect more next year

Whatever your game or level, there’s something on the menu for you this December, and it’s clear that PokerStars is reaffirming its commitment to throw money back at its players in the coming year, to keep the tables full and the rake flowing. Furthermore, it seems likely that their kitchen sink approach to the end of 2013 is intended to perform a direct comparison of their various promotions, to help them decide which ones to emphasize in future.
