2013 eGR Operator Awards handed out: 888 the big winner

egrOn November 25th the 9th annual eGR Operator awards were handed out at the Roundhouse in London, England. The award ceremony, named after eGaming Review Magazine, is one of, if not the most prestigious in the world of online gaming, and with multiple categories ranging from Operator of the Year to Mobile Bingo Product, there is plenty to celebrate.

eGaming review and the eGR Awards

eGaming Review is essentially the trade publication for online gambling. The site contains numerous articles with a heavy emphasis on the industry, including mergers, new game offerings, and financial reports.

While the eGR Operator Awards are not widely known about or regarded among players, in the online gaming industry they are very valuable commodities, and online gaming sites proudly display their eGR hardware on their websites, usually right alongside their licenses.

Im addition to the Operator Awards eGR also awards companies in the affiliate market, as well as several other awards ceremonies throughout the year, covering different aspects of and locales of the iGaming industry.

888’s incredible year continues

The big winner this year was 888 Holdings, with the gaming giant winning the Operator of the Year as well as Casino Operator of the Year and Poker Operator of the year, a very rare trifecta.

2013 has been an incredible year for 888, especially for their poker operation. The site sponsored the World Series of Poker, the World Series of Poker APAC, and the World Series of Poker Europe; the company saw their poker network challenge for the #2 spot behind PokerStars in www.pokerscout.com’s online traffic rankings; but even more importantly, 888 has emerged as one of the leaders of the US online poker industry.

888 is the only online operator running in all three US states –Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey—and if you combine their player pools from US.888Poker.com and WSOP.com in New Jersey they can boast the largest player pool in all three states –especially Delaware where they have a monopoly on the online gaming industry.

Winning three eGR Awards, in three very distinguished categories is just the icing on the cake for a fantastic 2013 for 888. This is also the third time that 888 has won the coveted Operator of the Year award at the eGR Awards.

“This year has been an extremely exciting and successful year for 888 and all of its brands,” said the SVP of 888.com, Itai Pazner. “To win all 3 of the top EGR Operator Awards is an amazing achievement and drives our continuous focus to be the leading global entertainment gaming brand.”
