"s" means suited "o" or "o/s" means off suited. Suited hands are obviously a little more valued because of flush possibilities.

cool thanks, are there any online guides explaining all of the lingo? or maybe someone would be up to the task of compiling one and making it into a sticky for all the newbies.

I was new about 3 months ago. Trust me when I say this stuff won't be too hard to pick up on after a little while. If you want to make a list of things you've heard and are unsure about, we could use that as a basis for a newbie poker lingo guide or something.
