Hello all
I have been playing poker for 1/2 years and I am thinking to take it to the next level, but my question is how good do you need to be at maths because I am not the smartest mathematician. From viewing several professionals they say it is essential to use maths.

Holde'em Manager and apps like that do the math for you I think. I haven't used it yet but eventually I suppose. I do estimate my odds of winning the pot and what it will cost me to call.
Personally though I lay down draws unless they're really cheap and theres a few players in the pot to pay off if I hit. Seems to just bleed chips generally

You need to have some basic math skills to calculate odds. Most sites have the software in place to help you on this end.

You need basic math to do odds in your head on the fly, you can download poker tracker for things like that and play on autopilot.

You honestly don't need to be that great at math. In fact, many professionals do not know that much about poker math. The main things you need to know are the odds for hitting draws. A good way to calculate your "rough" odds on the spot is called the "Four by Two" Rule. On the flop, multiply your estimated outs by 4 and use the outcome as a percentage. Aka, 9x4= 36%. This assumes you will see the turn and river. If you are on the turn, multiply yours estimated outs by 2 and that is your percentage. Message me if you ever want to chat.
