    Talking Newbie here

    Hey everybody.

Been playing poker for a few years now. I play hold em cuz I have to (that's where the money's at and that's all they wanna play at my home game) but I'm into pretty much every variation there is.

This year I've decided to try a little experiment: Each month I'm going to stick to one particular realm of poker. For example, this month I'm working on playing one cash game table at a time. Next month will be strictly multi-table tournaments, again one table at a time. I'm going to keep this up for a year and see how it affects my results.

Has anyone else ever done this? I'm curious about everyone's opinions or suggestions about this plan.

Thanks a bunch, hope to be contributing to this forum more in the near future.

dont know if its a good idea untill i see some stats..
however i think you could possibly make it two months...
1 month isnt really long enough to master a certain type of game e.g. MTT/sng/cash ...
as you say youve played for years.. posibly take longer on each type.. as 1 game at a time isnt really enough either..
    constructive criticism IMHO

Well if he plays a lot every day, it could be enough. It's only depends on him. It's another thing that one table is really really few in online poker, except heads up tables.

You could try that but why would you want to stop playing hold em completely wont it stop your income completely (i'm assuming here) isn't it better that you so many years experience in a particular niche you always try & be better there!

Yeah, pretty much Kattrine, I don't know if OP is going to progress very far in the world of poker like this. Though OP might become a good HORSE/8Game player

I think everyone should play like that. Sticking to a single "realm". Its the perfect choise to mantain discipline. I only play sitngoes by the way. Keeping the same buyins in all of them is a nice strategy too.

As long as you read plenty of books regarding each subcategory, you should be alright. Just make sure to use all of your free online resources as well. You will be surprised on how different the same game can be when dealing with different structures.
