    Bluemamba,
    your pocket 8's were "Counterfeited". You both had 2 pair, Kings and Tens. Opponent had Ace kicker. Your kicker became a 9.

    Dan is right. Remember, A poker hand consists of the best 5 cards.

    Thanks for the reply guys... i was really baffled, i was sure that since opponent had pocket 8's he would have won the pot... but i now understand how i ended up with the stronger hand. I can assure u he wasn't so happy bout the beat.lol

    It wasn't a bad beat. He shouldn't have let it get that far with an overcard on the flop.

    That kinda sucks that it would work that way, but your eights are down the toilet with the two higher pairs.

    In holdem poker always win the player holding the best 5 cards. In this case the 4 best cards were at the table with that double pair leaving only one usable card of each player. So the winner had KK TT and the A. You had KK TT and the 9
