Hi all
have been online now for 6 months and just started live play recently,
problem is the mre i red the more confused i get with poker
basically i have developed a LAG style of pay so far and am aiming to make my game about applying lots of pressure to people and being unpredictable, however i have been told that wat im doing is classic donk plays so i am desperately tryng to learn how to play properly and rele mix things up at the tables
i pay 8 hours a day and usually very low stakes on a good day im up 10 dllas but bad i either am down or break evena and can never buid a bank roll
my starting hands are pretty good,i play position,i raise pre flop,i c-bet or some times i check raise to mix it up,then fire a hefty bet on the turn,by the time i get here the pot is huge and i cant buy it or bluff someone off the river so i stop
^^thats basically my bluffin stratergy^^
problem is NOBODY BELEIVES ME
i get called down with ace high.low pair, middle pair ect and nobody gves my plays any credit
i wanna build my game in a super agressive model and push pp off hands but at the same time i dnt want the whole tabe thinking i a donk/maniac
im trying to figure out the best way to get good, all the stuff i read i try and apply to my game and may invest in a poker book to teach me some new plays i dnt yet know but i am literally even more baffled by poker now than when i first started playing.i am by nature a very scrutinous ,over analytic person so i want to learn the game right down to a microscopic level

First off, welcome to the forums.
It sounds like you should probably spend a bit more time studying the game, and by posting your thoughts you've made a good start. Buy a poker book or try and get some good articles online. In regards to playing LAG, I recommend starting off with more of a TAG style to learn the ins and outs of everything before getting tricky. In general, TAG players do very well...especially at the low stakes.
If you are only playing the top 10% of starting hands and not wasting money on the other crap, you have a better chance of winning overall, right? It's pretty simple, yet takes a lot of discipline to follow. Don't get too tricky. Play your strong hands strong, and throw away your weak hands.
And don't worry about being baffled by poker. I feel like I know the game very well, yet I probably only understand 80% of NLHE. That's the fun part of the game. It's always evolving and ever-changing. Just try and keep up the studying and play less hands.Well over $300,000 free every month in 2011 with freerolls, rake races, and rake chases!

Thanks for the reply
thats kinda what i wana do...find a decent book that goes into great detail of plays and analyzes them
also with regards to the TAG approach...i tried this aproach playing premium hands and playing them aggressive if i miss the flop(wich im guessing a TAG would check or fold to a hefty bet),but i found that yeah inevitable id run into a few nice hands but get pushed off the pot after a pre flop raise from me...then id check....oponent would et 3/4 of pot and id fold about 80% of the time
when i say loose i dnt play muck,i guess id just raise with 89/j9 suited or other suited connectors and represet a big preflop hand, then if a tricky flop hits then c-bet or check raise them hoping they missed or hit bottom or mid pair and get scared off by the particular board..and on occasion pick up a draw
i watch endless hours of you tube action and watch all the tv programmes
i also googed stratergy dvds and aparently a few of the pros have there own advanced dvds so i may buy one of those to see if it helps improve my game
so the idea now is to opt for a very agressive style of play and try making moves on people in stead of being made moves on....
what i have written al makes sense to me here but at the tables i kinda get very lost in the moment and maybe im too predictabe...i dont know
anyway thanks and hope some ppl have some ideas on how to improve other than the ones i stated

One thing I like to do is...and it sounds funny...don't think too much at the table!
For the most part, I play straight forward ABC poker. When I find myself looking into my table image and what the other players are thinking, I tend to psyche myself out. Either I think everyone knows what I have and play too weak, or I think everyone is bluffing and I play too strong, lol.
That's one reason why I enjoy multi-tabling. I don't read into things that don't need any reading. Poker, especially low stakes poker, is 95% math.
Regarding getting some video coaching, get a subscription somewhere. The good stuff you have to pay for. Go with one of the respected names like Cardrunners or Deuces Cracked. They are seriously worth it. TV poker will make you a donkey.
Good luck!Well over $300,000 free every month in 2011 with freerolls, rake races, and rake chases!

If you're a beginner, play TAG with only the best 10-15 starting hands in poker. Fold hands that won't give you much of a chance in winning. Don't bluff often and play in position more often.

If you're playing really low limits, this could be why nobody is believing you (because they're not paying attention). When I've played $0.05/$0.10 and $0.25/$0.50 cash games, it doesn't even seem worth the effort to create a table image.

Whenever I start to play too laggy I always go back to the fundamentals - as Vince Lomabardi said 'you can never over drill the basics.' You'll need to develop discipline that is key to making the right plays at the right time over and over again. This Article was hugely beneficial to me when I started out Poker Collective | Blog - scroll down to Getting into Small Stakes Online 6-max NLHE. I look over it whenever I need reminding of the basics to solid winning Poker and always see an improvement in my game when I revisit and implement it properly.

When you play a LAG style, you have to think of yourself as a hit man. You have to really pick your targets wisely and then strategically take them down. The LAG player must always be the most observant. The key to LAG is knowing WHEN to apply pressure. If you do it more often than you should, you will generally get called down. A good player to watch and study is Sammy Farha. He plays a lot of hands, but he is also one of the most observant players at the table. He knows when he is beat, but players will call him more often than not because of his style.
I am somewhat of a LAG, but I never start a table playing LAG. When I first sit down, I play solid ABC poker until I can get a good feel for who is weak and who is strong. By doing this, I can get a tight table image where people will respect my wagers. Once I find out who the fish are, I am more likely to play any two cards against them to see if I can outplay them. You can't just go firing three barrels every time your c-bet doesn't work.
Another key to playing a good LAG style is reading the board. You can't just bluff someone on any board. Bluffing must come from certain cards being dealt (usually on the turn or river) that you can represent. Deciding you are going to bluff someone before the flop is a bad idea and will eat away at your stack. When you bluff, ask yourself what hand you are trying to represent and why you are doing it. Does your opponent appear to be weak? Is he just making a c-bet? A possible flush is out there, can I use that against him?
Hope this helps
