Hello Everyone!
I'm fairly new to poker and online poker. Went to a local gambling place for a beginner's tournament (no cost) to learn about hands, play, etc. I also had an account for awhile on fulltilt. Well I got back home and got my fulltilt up on the bigscreenand finally managed to add $10 and of course lose it all
Actually, I don't play much ... but I'm doing this for my girlfriend. She likes playing the game more than I do. At any rate, we are both already overwhelmed with the game and all the "options" out there for play. I'm also a bit confused about this whole new? thing with full tilt. Long story short, I had to do a bank transfer to get 10 bucks in my account because NO credit card would take. I called full tilt and they same some crap about visa/mc no longer letting them take payments. Not sure if this is true, and would like some advice from you guys on this.
Other questions I have:
- What's a good site and type of game for total newbs? The free play gets boring but I (or her) sure don't want to gamble away all my money overnight.
- What's the deal with all the "bonus" and "rakeback" stuff? Is there a easy or good place to start with that where I could maybe get some free credits? I currently just have the account with full tilt in my name.
- Is the online overall a better way to go than real life poker? I'm not sure as I had kinda mixed feelings about the crowd down at the poker room.
Well I guess that's it for now. So , I look forward to any good advice from you guys on where to go from here! Thanks!![]()

Sorry for the late response. Welcome!
I definitely prefer online poker to live poker. It has a number of benefits such as:
-More hands per hour. This one is huge. Once youre comfortable playing one table, add more. I play 16-24 tables at a time and I just find live boring now because you get dealt so few hands per hour.
-It's also super convenient. You can fire up tables in no time and play 24/7 with ease.
-No time/cost of transportation to the Casino
-No dealer tips necessary
If you want to get better, online is the way to go, although sometimes its fun to have the feel of chips and real cards in your hands as well.

- Get a NETeller account and deposit through that. It'll make depositing a whole lot easier.
- Any site is fine. It won't make a huge difference to you right now. I'd recommend you play on play money until you know the rules fully. Then just maybe read some books/watch a couple of poker videos to understand some basic concepts.
- Bonuses are sort of delayed money that the poker site gives you and you have to unlock it by getting enough points as you play. Rakeback is available on some sites and they give you a certain % of the rake that you pay back to you per week/month.
- Live players are stupid and believe online poker is rigged. Don't listen to them. It is definitely a lot tougher than live poker though and there will be a lot of better players than the ones you've played live.
Good luck at the tables.
