    Default Terms,Slang and meanings

Hello all,im new to poker and need some help in slang and phrases.

Could you tell me the meaning of

    1,C BET.
    2,KICKER (SHITTY).
    3,PLAYING LEGGY.(LEGGYER STYLE).
    4,SPOT BET.
    5,PICKING UP THE BLIND.

Does anyone know the reason for having the small and big blinds, what are the advantages or disadvantages?

Any other terms or "slang meaning" would be a real help,i look forward to learning and helping others in the future. Great site!

A kicker is the highcard you use after a pair.
    Player1: A5
    Player2: AK
    Board: A 4 6 8 9
    Player2 has the better kicker. His hand is A A K 9 8 while Player1 has A A 9 8 5

Picking up the blinds is making a raise to hold that the big blind and small blind both fold.

The small and big blinds guarantee action in the pot. If there were no blinds, there would be no reason to enter the pot because there would be no money in it.

OK i understand that, why is there a small and big blind? why not just have a antie? Is it something to do with the early position your in next to the button? does it continue the betting past the button because after the first round the SB must come level with the rest of the table? Thanks

Blinds basically make it so everyone is forced to bet during a round, makes it more interesting.

If there were just antes, people could check to see the flop. With blinds, they have to call. The small blind is right after the dealer, so it is the worst position. But since they already have money invested, it helps them want to stay in.

C-Bet is short hand for "Continuation Betting" and is a betting strategy where you aggressive bet preflop and continue betting aggressively to the end regardless of whether you had, made or missed a hand. The idea is to drive out players leaving you to collect the pot. The danger of course is if you miss while someone else makes a hand then continuing C-betting means you're simply throwing money away!
Not sure what "Playing Leggy" is, I've never heard of that one. Is this something you heard locally or online?

You just bumped a year old post :/

Continuation Betting is when you bet preflop and lead out on the flop,
Double Barreling is when you bluff on the Flop+Turn
Triple Barreling is when bluff all three streets

Bluffing should be done with reads and some understanding of your opponent(s) ranges.

It's got to be playing laggy unless its something that comes from a town of 5,000 people or less, lol.

Laggy means to play LAG, or in a Loose AGgressive style. Seeing a lot of pots and trying to force people out of the pot with your chips and aggression.
