What is rakeback?

Casinos/sites take a percentage out of each pot (usually 5% online) as rake. It's a standard fee, and it's where the casino/site makes its money off poker. Rakeback sites are affiliates to online gaming sites. The rakeback site gets a new player to sign up on the poker site through them, and the poker site gives the rakeback site a portion of the rake that player generates. The rakeback site then pays a certain percentage of that back into your poker account at regular intervals (sometimes every week, every month, etc.) It only works for a new account because the whole purpose is to bring in new players; the poker sites don't want to be giving back rake money to players who already have an account there.
For example, most rakeback sites offer a 27% rakeback deal for Full Tilt. So if you play a pot with 1 other person, and the final pot ends up being $10, the site will take (usually) 50 cents as rake. This means each of you has paid 25 cents of rake. Your rakeback site will track this statistic, and you will earn 7 cents of rakeback (25 cents x 27% = 6.75 cents) in your rakeback account. Then it will automatically get deposited to your poker account on Full Tilt on the next "payday".
It's a must-have for anyone wanting to play long-term online. Even if you break even over a month of regular play, you'll have gained profit from the rakeback. For great rakeback options and lots of member freerolls and promotions, sign up at Rakebrain!

So you sign up for the rakeback deal and you basically represent that rakeback site during your tenure at a given site? Are there any fees that go along with it?

You're not really representing the rakeback site, it's more like they are the referral that got you to sign up, and the rakeback is their payment for gathering new customers for the poker sites. No fees, you just follow the rakeback site's sign up instructions (only works for new accounts to the poker sites, obviously), and once it's approved, you've got yourself a rakeback deal on that account.
*hint hint* Signing up through the link in my signature would be a nice gesture to me for helping ya
It gets me 3-4% of the rakeback you earn (it's extra, not taken out of yours) for referring you to the site. You can then refer others to the site to get yourself the same bonus from their generated rakeback. It's a nice pay-it-forward kind of deal

What is rake?
The 'rake' is the amount the poker room removes from each pot, as a fee, for hosting/offering the poker game. The amount taken from each pot varies by limits, but is generally anywhere from $1-$3 on average per hand.
What is rakeback?
When you sign up with a poker room through a rakeback provider you will receive a refund for every $1.00 that you pay in rake. This refund is known as rakeback. No matter what limits you play, whether you are a professional or just play poker for fun, receiving rakeback will greatly increase your win-rate, and allow you to make more money.
What is "Total Rake" or "Net Revenue"?
Each poker room may have a different term for "Total Rake" or "Net Revenue", but it is essentially the total rake paid by you as calculated by the poker room. When rakeback providers pay your rakeback, it is nearly always a percentage of your Net Revenue.
What is a Rakeback Provider?
A rakeback provider is a company that advertises for a poker room or a group of poker rooms. Rakeback providers are paid a percentage of Total Rake for each one of their players. these providers then gives this payment from the poker room, in the form of rakeback, back to you, the poker player.
How can I get rakeback?
The first step is creating an account with one of the many rakeback providers. Once you have logged into your newly created account with said site, you will normall be able to select the poker room(s) you are interested in receiving rakeback from and follow the sign up instructions. As a rule, within 5 minutes you can begin playing poker and earning rakeback!
How often are my Rakeback stats updated ?
Now with most up to date rakeback sites almost all of your rakeback stats are updated daily. If a site does not update daily there will normally be a note of this. There can sometimes be delays with the rakeback stats updating, but these delays are usually out of the affiliates control and are usually not more than a couple of days.
Can I Still Get Bonuses at a Poker Room if I Receive Rakeback?
Yes! You will still be able to receive bonuses offered by the poker room and any other promotions offered by the poker room or the rakeback site. Bonuses are deducted from your Total Rake, but it is much better to receive both bonuses and rakeback than either by themselves.
When are Rake Back Payments Made to Me?
The payments are as a rules made once a month, generally during the second week, for the previous month's rake back that is currently due to you. For example, if you have accumulated $400 in rake back in December, this will be paid to you in January. Though we strive to make the rake back payments to you by the 15th of each month, certain poker rooms automatically make the rake back payment to your poker account. There are times when the rake back payment will be made even later than the 15th due to their poker rake back payment schedule. Now a lot of sites are starting to pay weekly as well as a few who pay out daily.
Hope that helps, good luck.
