Default Play Money is worth...

???? How well do the play money tables actually prepare me to play...

I am just curious because I really want to play money tables.

Just some background info...I have been playing since probably early 2006 on Pokerstars with play money.. I had a decent bankroll until I found the 40k tables and went nuts and lost everything. Twice.

I played the 50k SnGs and would place probably 6th on average..don't have a stat tracker or anything so I couldn't really tell ya.

Are the play money tables worth it to start with or should I play 1$ sngs...if getting money on pokerstars in the U.S. is even possible anymore.

Anywho, first thread that I've made so Hope it wasn't a total waste of your time.

They don't at all. Play money bears little resemblance to even penny stakes poker. The only real advantage is to find out the basics of a game.

Ya.. I cashed in a Freeroll for about 1.50 and got up to 6 or so dollars.. then I didnt cash out at the table when I said I would and blew all but a buck..then spent that on a SnG and now with my last 13 cents I plan on playing a .10 dollar tourney. Maybe get lucky and get a couple bucks again and play the 1/2 penny tables...they were a kick, a lot more fun then play money...slightly more addicting too

A lot of times you have to try the cards multiple times before they take. I have no idea why.

play money is nothing like real money, I consistently win at play money but lose at all real money internet poker... but then again I win if I'm playing poker in real life... maybe I just suck at the internet?

hi, one way I taught myself to play wasI picked up a PC game (for cheap) called Learn to WIN at poker - Texas Hold'em (by CHallenge). What I did was I set the PC players to the maximum AI and simply played. They can be quite a challenge, because unlike play money tables these AI opponants are erm trying to take ure money (I hope you know what I mean!!. So they make correct moves based on the action not just daft all ins like in a lot of play money games!
