Default multi-tabling?

Is this really an advantage?

I can see the point of playing say two tables at a time, as you can properly anaylse everyone at the table and their betting patterns.

But I have been reading that some people play about 8 or more tables.

I tried playing 5 last night as an experiement and it gave me a headache, and i couldn't keep track of everyone at all the tables so my play was worse than it would have been using only 1-2 tables.

Just wondering what your thoughts are on multi-tabling?

I gave this a shot last night, too. I only played 3 tables, though.

It definately took alot more concentration and it seemed much more stressful. I did manage to walk away with $27, though, winning at two of the three(.50/1.00 LHE) tables.

I don't usually multitable these days, but I spent most of the week 4-tabling at Party clearing their latest bonus. Took a bit to get used to it again.

I tend to bet straightforwardly, just because I'm not paying enough attention to execute any kind of plays. Since I was playing at the lowest NL tables, this strategy was just fine against those players.

You HAVE to have a HUD like GT+. There's no way I would want to try keeping track of thirty-six opponents without one! It does clutter the screen, but you get used to it after a bit.

I usually play 4 , occasionally I've been playing around with 5 tables...I've gotten so used to looking at the 4 tables on 1 screen though I tend to forget to look at my other monitor. Then I realize I'm stittng out every few minutes on my 5th table, need to work on that. But like Yvraine said, it's so much nicer with a HUD

HUD = Heads UP Display, it runs in conjunction with PT, and it puts the stats of each player right on the table.

As Pok said, a HUD (be it GT+ (which is free) or PAHUD (commercial release)) will work with your PT stats to overlay them on the tables, like so:

This is Victor Chandler with me using GT+.

You can do a search, we have had at least one very in depth thread on this, but I'll say a couple things here.

First, you need to be comfortable multi-tabling, I usually bring up 4 tables (2 monitors) to get warmed up (usually takes a round or so), then I add more tables up till 8. I could probably do 12 or 16 if I had the real estate to do so. But you usually don't start with your max tables, you work into it. If you are trying to learn to mutli-table, open up 2 for now, get the HUD's working (must use huds), and add a third, then a fourth. And if you feel overwhelmed, just close one. IT takes time and practice to get beyond 3 tables.

Money wise, I have found that it decreases your Standard Deviation, and therefore decreases your BR requirements. In a semi-recent thread, I showed that 8 tabling, my BR reqs are lower than what is required to actually sit at 8 tables. BUt yes, your play will suffer a little, so your bb/100 drops, but your $/hr goes up with each additional table. The key is to find where your $/hr is maximized.

I like sticking to ONE TABLE.. I dont like abunch of buzzers going off tell ing me to call or fold or raise. It does get extracting and I just like keeping focused in one table..and begginers should as-well.

on prima skins you can use have mini-tables. I can do decently 4-tableing with the mini tables up and running. that's on a 19" screen.

at 1024x768 they fit perfectly.
